A member prune would be a good idea.

I was looking through the member list, seeing what page I'm on in the joined by date list (oh yeah, one of the WAAAAY early ones).

Anyways...lots of people with 1, 2, 3, maybe 0 posts, yet still on the list.

Almost two years old...I don't think they're posting around here.

Anyways...it should be done. It frees up valuable names for people, so we can avoid weightlifterdude11232133432.

Just my opinion....but some people have one name that they use...for instance...I'm registered on quite a few boards...if someone else registered as w8lifter, a lot of people would think it was me....it's an identity, even though it's just online and doesn't really mean anything....but why would you want to pick a name that someone else uses and is known for?

Well, someone who registered in dec. 2000 and posted once, doesn't care, and should have no issues with being; they haven't been here in almost two years.

Thats the deal. Inactive member names have no use.

And in all honesty, the creative names, like mine, won't be registered anywhere else except where I register them. It's the uncreative names that are. Identity shouldn't be a cause for concern if your name lifterdude or something of the sort, 500 people have used that one before, I'm sure.

Either way, with or without the "issue" of nick identity, keeping users who NEVER came back, really, in the database is a waste of server processes and the sort. Websites with large user databases do it often enough which is why I mentioned it here. It keeps things on the up and up.

A slight waste of space (slight), not processes, if they dont login they dont use resources really. As for up and up, I worked for a company that claimed 14 million member users and I'm sure the active numuber was much much less, thats just the way it goes. If someone doesnt cancel thier account very rarely does someone do it for you.

Well yeah and if IM can claim 14 million members instead of 200 then doesn't it sound better too?

I agree with that...and until the membership reaches around 10,000 I see no real need to prune it.

I agree with this.......I`m a member just about everywhere, but only lurk at other places.

Why don`t you go post the same thing at MM.com where they have 100 active members but 65000 members
