does cardio burn the most calories (& fat) the quickest?
Posted by: unclem
i would say it burns calories but i dont know if its the quickest or best way. somebody else might chime in and help u better than i. but its not going to hurt nothing by doing it you will get benefits from it. i do just running on a treadmill and alot of guys and gals do also i think.

when i'm on the treadmill i set it on the highest incline (most of the time) but gave up running years ago....for me, too jarring on the body.

I just had this debate and I think the answer is yes. However, only half of an answer is given. You will burn fat the fastest and lose muscle to go with it.

over a 24 hr period high intensity exercise burns more calories than does an equivalent amount of cardio at the same level of intensity. cardio and resistance training both only aid fat loss with changes in the diet playing the biggest part of the equation.

oh, yes, that four letter word, diet! definitely a huge part of the equation. i used to hear women say you can eat whatever you want as long as you work out...not true!

Running definitely helps, but I think you can burn the same calories doing high intensity workouts as Lam mentioned, at which point your getting the best of both worlds.

I think it depends on what type of condition you are in.
If your weight training has developed into a serious routine you could burn 750-1000 calories depending on how much your pulling / pushing.
On the other hand...
If your a cardio nut you can do 1000 in an hour on the bike.
I do believe that 1000 calories weight training will burn more fat than the 1000 cardio would. Again thats assuming you have a really serious workout over and hour or two.
The benefits are different, you get tons of endurance from Cardio and you get strength and mental focus from solid lifting.

oh i see, tension......i pretty much stay away from lifting, especially with a healing slipped neck disc for which i've gotten 2 steroid injections so far.
