Posted by: Scotty the Body

Hehehe 5'12 eh?

Posted by: Burner02

he just doesn't want to be 6 foot, I guess...

Posted by: Deisel

both muscle and fat i found out my body% the other day to its 16%

Posted by: Deisel

ment body fat

16 isn't that bad, at 15 years old I wouldn't go on a cutting diet but rather keep eating good clean food, get plenty of rest and a good routine is all you need.

Your not Mr. Ripped at 16% but when your young its pretty natural to carry some bodyfat, it will slowly lower as you improve your diet and work out.

At 15, I wouldn't work out.

Stay active and play sports until you are sure you've stopped growing, before you even attempt to bulk up.

Until you've stopped growing? That could be 20 years of age.

I have always said that weightlifting should begin around 16 years of age, but I do not want to get into that argument/debate again.

Not to foster the debate but I certainly have heard the same from many different sources, personally i wish I had started younger.

5'12 is kind of an odd hieght to be eh deisel, lol

Okay, I'm not trying to start a debate or anything. Perhaps I've just been miffed by the ol' wives tale of stunted growth.

I just assumed that when most pro bodybuilders average 5'7"-5'10" (with the exception of Arnold and Paul Dillett), it was due to training too early in life.

Whats wrong with a debate??? He's already 6' and 220lb, I don't see how weight lifting is really gonna effect his growth but to only make him bigger.
I think the biggest problem with a 15 year old lifting weights isn't the weight lifting itself but rather the mental attitude of "I can do anything" that can cause an injury.
If he keeps his head on his shoulders and lifts smart, I think its a great time for him to be lifting and growing.

Thank you I started lifting at 14, I'm 32 now and I'm one of the tallest in my family and relatives.

To recap for Deisel...

My son started lifting weights at age 13 1/2, about 5'6... he's almost 15 now and is 5'10 and still growing!!!

I agree with Prince & Scotty... the biggest problem we've had is teaching him to always use good form and not to try and lift too heavy when he's clearly not ready for the w8 increase.

He has had to get annual physicals for sports and scouts since he was 10... his doctor knows he lifts weights and doesn't have a problem with him doing so.

It's important for kids to have good self-esteem so I say go for it, Deisel!!! Just use good judgement, read up on it and if you need advice... ask away!

GUYS AND GALS, lifting young and stunning your growth is just that an old belief and incorrect. What is correct is that at a tender age, there is more chance of damaging joints and ligaments. This is fact. Now I'm not saying not to lift. I also started at 14 for football. I'm only saying that youngsters need to take a cautious approach. Don't go trying to set world record lifts. Use a moderate weight. My BEST advise as I stated in an earlier post in another board is to consult your physician before starting any resistence program.
