President Obama took his biggest swipe at the persistent birther movement Wednesday morning, offering up his actual birth certificate for all the world to see.

And, as Obama has long insisted, the document signed by the doctor who delivered the President-to-be states he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Aug. 4, 1961.

"We do not have time for this silliness," Obama said Wednesday morning. "We got big problems to solve."

The commander-in-chief said he's been "puzzled" by the obsession over his birth, saying that while Republicans and Democrats battled over the budget, the media seemed more interested in would-be presidential candidate Donald Trump demanding Obama's birth certificate.

"During that entire week, the dominate news story wasn't about these huge monumental choices we would have to make as a nation, it was about my birth certificate," Obama said.

The President argued that with his long-form birth certificate now on display, the country could finally move on.

"We've got better stuff to do," he said.

The surprise announcement, which the White House called "proof positive" Obama is a natural born U.S. citizen, came during an early morning press conference Wednesday.

Obama wrote Hawaii health officials last Friday, asking them to release the "long form" as opposed to the abbreviated version that Hawaii has instead issued for decades.

The legal document was posted as a PDF on the White House website. The "certificate of live birth" is signed by the attending doctor, Obama's mother and a state official.

GOP strategists have complained the "birther" controversy, fueled recently Trump, is damaging the party's prospects to beat Obama in next year's Presidential election, a view shared at the White House.

"I hope it's the right deal. We have to look at it, a lot of people will look at it, experts will look at it," Trump said Wednesday morning. "I am really proud I was able to bring this to a point."

Well, uber douche that he is, I believe he is right about him bringing this to a close - finally. You are right though, he is a douche. Entertaining, but still a douche.

Getting back to what i have said about Obama being a celebrity Media whore, he responds to someone who reaches the Oprah, The View and celebrity TV show crowds.

He is a douche but he is forcing some real issues to the forefront and because of his celebrity, they get debated which is a good thing. One other good thing he does is call a spade a spade, which no career politician ever will do out of fear and cowardice. If anything, it will bring some good (all be it more entertainment wise) to the 2012 Presidential race.

President Obama took a load off on the couch Wednesday after stirring up a frenzy with the release of his birth certificate.

Oprah's couch, to be exact.

The President and First Lady flew to Chicago to sit down with the talk show queen after a surprise press conference in which Obama handed his long-form birth certificate to reporters, trying to end the "birther" controversy once and for all.

"When it first came up, were you thinking, I hope I was born here?" Winfrey asked, to laughter from the audience.

"Can I just say I was there, so I knew," Obama said. "I knew I had been born. I remembered it."

Obama, who has been under fire from "birthers" like Donald Trump to prove he was in fact born in the United States, was also lambasted by conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Mitt Romney on Wednesday for giving in to the pressure.

"What President Obama should really be releasing is a jobs plan," tweeted aspiring presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Romney.

The President shrugged off that criticism, defending his decision to release the birth certificate as a way to get the country focused again on important issues.

"Why did you wait so long?" Oprah asked.

"Two weeks ago a huge debate was initated about where our budget needs to go," he told Winfrey. "During the course of this major debate where I gave a big speech and the Republicans voted on their proposal, the biggest news was this birth certificate thing.

"I said to my team, look, even though this is not usually what the state of Hawaii does...Even though the Republican governor of Hawaii, the Democratic governors of Hawaii, all the various officials had confirmed that I was born here, let's ask them for a special dispensation where they will go ahead and provide us with the original to see if we can put this to rest," he said.

"We are living in a very serious time. And America has huge potential and opportunity to seize the 21st century. We're only gonna get there, though, if we have a serious conversation about the things that matter to people," Obama said. "We can't be distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers going around, trying to get attention."

What next, wanna see his Social Security card? He already provided for everyone to see his lawful birth certificate that would have been proof enough in any court of law. I find so many levels of shame in the way this went down. Any one of us expects the same level of Privacy as every other citizen in this nation, and the President should be treated as everyone else with regards to the laws of Privacy. No one is above nor below the law here correct?

Second it's petty shit like this that keeps us from focusing all of our thoughts on the big issues...
