don't see that much physical change

anyone else been lifting for a year or more and really don't see that much change in the mirror? it really hasn't been that frustrating for me, because those were never my goals. my goals were always what can i move that i couldn't before.

Maybe some stats would help? I mean if you weighted 400lbs I'm not sure your gonna notice a diff if your at 350lbs now.

Do your measurements change? Are you cutting or bulking or just lifting for strength without a diet to follow? It's hard to notice change day to day because you're probably never going to wake up in the morning and look noticeably different from the night before. Take pictures and compare them, you might notice a different from last year til now if you had a picture.

i try as hard as i can to not even look in a mirror (i mean REALLY check myself out very often). certain people have patients and some don't. i do not. i get frustrated easily if i can't see virtually instant gratification. i try to go by how my clothes fit and what people that i don't see very often say. as mentioned above, if you're constantly looking at yourself, you're not gonna see the changes.

pictures help a ton. I feel like nothing has changed then I look at a picture from 2 months ago and then im like wow. Take a pic everyone month at the same time.

i actually have some pictures that i took when i started lifting, and i see some difference from when i started.
i am 5'9" started at 200lbs
now i am at 210lbs i am mostly on a see food diet lots of calories but still try to eat pretty clean, losts of steak and chicken
i know i have gotten a lot stronger which have always been my goals, i guess i just expected to see mor physical change in myself?

Well post the pics, and take some recent ones. You know we are our own worst critics.

these ar from 1/30/10 ot 5/23/11

Well you definitely lost some manboobage, and it looks like a couple inches off your waist... and 5lbs of hair

I don't know what your goals are, but if weight lose is one of them, it seems to be working!

Can see big changes in chest, shoulders, traps, forearms.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

Edit - Neck looks thinner too!

Agreed. You're not seeing what we're seeing? I say that is a GREAT before and after shot.

thanks fellas!!
i have actually put on over 10 lbs.
i guess i just expected to be able to see more difference after a year and a half of training
goals were always to put more weight on the bar, that i have done. i was very weak when i started, and i don't consider myself strong by any stretch now. but i know i am much much stronger than i was!!
thanks again for the encouragement, means a lot

This would be me. I look at pictures of me 10 years ago versus now and can see a huge difference.

it's called progress........and you're making it.

Posted by: jackedntan

That's awesome progress bro. Looks like you've lost a lot of fat and if yer up 10lbs then that's a pretty good recomp in my book. Keep it up man

Im not going to say night and day diff but there is a diff. For one, Your forearms are bigger. Your chest is tighter and your delts seem fuller. Your stomach isnt sticking out and there is more of a tapered appearance.

If you step your routine up or change it slightly, you may see a more drastic change. Diet and training are the keys to unlock the door to jackedness.

you look great man. I can see more upper body mass and better posture. Coupled with significant strength gains those are some good results over a year

how much weight have you gained since you started lifting? what is your diet like?

the most gains in this sport come in the first 5 years as the body is in it's highest most untrained state. the longer the time in the sport the less gains are seen in size as the body nears it's natural genetic potential.

if there is growth in some body parts and not others this tells you that the diet/caloric is sufficient and the problem lies in the training and/or recovery period. no growth at all is a sure sign of insufficient calories/nutrients in the diet.

I see a ton of improvement. It looks like all that gut you had went to your chest. Your gut stuck out a decent amount before (not trying to be offensive, I used to be the same way) and now your chest sticks out more, not to mention your shoulders look a lot bigger.

no offence taken that was one of the reasons i started lifting in the first place...i looked down and couldn't see my ummm shoes. after i started then my goals changed and i wanted to see what i could move. since then it has been all about what can i lift this week that i couldn't last week
