When to eat!

Okay, I have been checking forums trying to find out when I should excise, on a full or empty stomach, to promote the most fat loss. What about the body becoming catabalic and using muscle as an energy source. I am trully confused.

OMG if I lifted on an empty stomach I would keel over and die due to lack of energy. I must have food before I workout! Thats just me though.

What are your stats and your goals? Doing cardio before breakfast is good for fat loss..I used to run 3 miles back when I thought I was fat..I was a moron, but that's another thread....

If you're into packing on muscle/strength/size, then you definitely MUST eat before your workout.

These stats are for my wife, 125lbs , 5'6''. She wants to lose more body fat. So your saying that it is okay to workout on a empty stomach, if you are trying to lose fat? And what about eating before she goes to bed, when she is really hungry?

Ok, DP and w8 will correct me if I'm wrong, but yeah, it's ok to do cardio that way if you're trying to cut fat...but, the biggest way to cut fat is to change your (her) diet.

about eating before bed...I'm not sure on that one...if she's trying to lose weight(fat) I'd say no, but I'm not sure..I eat before bed, but that's me cuz I'm bulking...so logic would tell you no...hopefully someone can chime in here to see if I'm correct.

eat more times a day, but eat smaller meals (healthy too!!!!)...that way you don't stuff yourself with crap late in the evening.

Cardio in the morning would be best for fat loss before breakfast. Keep it at around half an hour. As for a bed time meal, cottage cheese, which is casein and slow digesting.

Of course eat before bed. Most definately. Every night right before I brush my teeth I have a shake. Be sure to add enoug fat to slow down digestion. Don't have any carbs on the last meal of the day though.
Check out my journal and it will give you ideas about what I eat. I'm cutting!

As Freeman says, I eat like a horse!

Hahaha, but I also said you don't look like a horse!

Seriously, you look grrrrrrrrrrreat!

I use a gel pack 15 min or so before working out for energy, it works awesome. Get one with caffeine in it to boost energy.

You don't want to work out without some energy(food source) in your body. You will lower the level of your performance and decrease your fat burning due to less energy used.

If you want to lose weight, cut out the BS stuff in your diet. Get rid of the mayo on your sandwich and use a little oil/vinegar. Lay off the candy and soda. Cutting soda out and drinking water instead is HUGE. There is no magic bullet to losing weight, it is simply taking less calories in and burning more off with exercise. You NEED proper nutrition or you will end up fat with less muscle.

I really don't agree with this. If you're talking about cardio when you say "workout", then I can understand. However, it can be misleading. I would never recommend weight training on an empty stomach. I think you should just clarify so people dont' think you mean lifting weights when you say "work out".
