Hey guys. Well so far the girlfriend and I are doing great. But I'm having a problem with something. For some reason when I'm about to say her name I catch myself almost calling her my ex-girlfriend's name.

I have no idea why. I haven't spoken to my ex for three years and do not have any desire to be with her at all. I am extremely happy with this relationship as we love being with each other and we both believe that it is going to last for a long time. It is a hell of a lot better one than the one I had with my ex. So why the hell would I be doing this? This has just been a recent issue to. One time I actually did call her my ex's name

but fortunately she was talking to someone else and did not catch on what happened.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to screw this up, thanx guys.

It probably has to do with how you were really serious with your ex. and now your serious about this girl. So your it's just habit from the last relationship even though it was a long time ago. So just be careful and it'll get better, trust me it totally does. Been there done that.

The cure for this is, that you have to admit to all of us that you are succhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh an A$$hole and that you will send all of us lots of $$$$ so we can keep our collective mouth shut!!!

Get a "Pet" name/Nick name......as in a term of endearment......call her that.....just don't get mushy!

I really agree here. You are in a comfortable relationship as you were last time, before it went sour.

You could always explain to her how much this is bothering you.....if you told her ""I am extremely happy with this relationship as we love being with each other and we both believe that it is going to last for a long time. It is a hell of a lot better one than the one I had with my ex."" and explained it genuinely you`d probably find that she would be understanding, and the problem would probably then go away as weel.

Thanx for the input guys, and ya DP, I'll try that. I already do have petnames for her. I always call her a different type of food ex. carrot cake, pumpkin pie, etc. Fuqin drives her nuts.

You'll never EVER have the urge to call her your ex's name again if you just go ahead and call her bitch or slut.

I'd be willing to bet you won't have the urge to do a lot of things if you call her those things.
