Hennig passes away

by Dave Meltzer

Dave@wrestlingobserver.com

Curt Hennig, who was in his prime one of the most talented wrestlers of the modern era, died earlier today in Tampa. He was 44.

Hennig was in town for a show being promoted by Jimmy Hart at the Tampa State Fairgrounds tonight. He was seen alive at 9:30 a.m. by Mickey Jay in his room, but a few hours later when he failed to show up at the gym, a workout partner went back to the room and he was found passed out at about 1 p.m. He was officially pronounced dead a short time later.

A quick Google search indicates it's an Arabic message spoken upon one's death. Something along the lines of "May he return to Allah."

I remember him well, he was a great entertainer, wonder what the cause of death was.

I remember when he went back to the WCW and formed a group that motto'd itself as "rap is crap" and did this stupid country dance in fron of Masta P. Fuk'n hilarious!

he is just trying to get a reaction, he seems to thrive on it, I just ignore him.

Ooohh... one of those deprived individuals................

Posted by: frusht

When a death message is received, "…and give good news to the patient, who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are from Alláh and to Him is our return."

its just a common saying to say to people when there is a death

has anyone heard any more on this?

Posted by: Tank316

being that Curt Henning was from the TwinCities area, i got to meet him and b.s some, he was a ''class act'' just a normal kinda guy, he'll be missed by alot of fans.

Posted by: david

They showed more clips of him when he was truly "perfect". Boy, he was entertaining!

Did they ever release a cause of death?

Posted by: david

I don't think they have.

I know that he was active in an organization called the F.O.W. before he died.

I'm sure I'm gonna be flamed for suggesting steroids and such had something to do with his early death but it does seem like a likely situation. Really, really sad..

Posted by: david

you know what, Corri! I suspect that too along with other recreational drugs... but then again, that is just through the grapevine.

Posted by: Corri

Wasn't their another wrestler that died in his 40's because of steroid and "recreational" substance abuse? I think it was the British Bulldog and a good friend of his...

Somethng tells me a lot more of these 80's and 90's wrestlers are gonna start kicking the can.
