I don't think we officially have a introduction thread except for new members forum.

So here it is ladies. So glad to have you here. Tell us a little about yourself.

-How long you've been training?
-What your goals are?
-Have you competed before? Contest history etc...
-Are you married, kids (?), pets (?)...
-Hobbies outside of the gym

Anything you want to say. Also including a picture would be nice!

How long you've been training?
24 years

-What your goals are?
To do well at the pro level in the new Women's division called ~Physique~. But basically just have fun while doing it. Once the fun is over, it's time to say buh bye to the stage.

-Have you competed before? Contest history etc...
I competed in several compeitions. I've done Bodybuilding, Figure and now Physique.

-Are you married, kids (?), pets (?)...
I am married to Cameron aka ParadiseCup. We've been together for 18 years married for going on 15 years. We have 3 kiddos. 2 girls and a boy.

We have 3 siamese pussy cats.

-Hobbies outside of the gym
When I do have time outside of the gym and home life, I like going to the movies and going out to eat. It's nice to be waited on once in awhile and not having to cook. Love hanging out with family and friends.

Hi Lynda. Great to finally have an official "little about me".

That's awesome you were in the weight room in hs. I tried to get my daughter to keep her weightlifting class, but she switched out that class. She said it was all boys.

Welcome to IM! So great to have you here!

omg! You should really consider getting on stage. All your hard work in the gym, why not show it off! You are never too old! Seriously! I am older than you are and in 7.5 weeks I'll be standing on stage at my Pro debut!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you Island girl for your encouragement

You look awesome!
I do workout regularly but I guess to be in a competition level I need to do more .
What kind of competion is right for beginners .
Do I need to have a special weight and height and body fat measurement?
The more questions I ask the more it seems impossible that I will make it to any competition!

Hi, I'm Katia...

-How long you've been training?
seriously training - about 3 years... i've been going to the gym for almost 10 years now, but the first 7 years were just, you know, cardio and some abs machine. what most girls - average girls - do - i don't think i'll offend anyone here by saying that
-What your goals are?
get my pro card, hopefully this year, and start competing at a pro level and earn some $$$ and get noticed by some big company (fitness-related obviously) and get some more $$$ - LOL - I just love training and leading a healthy lifestyle and I want to be paid for it
-Have you competed before? Contest history etc...
3 national show last year: USA's in Vegas, North Americans in Cleveland, and Nationals in Miami
-Are you married, kids (?), pets (?)...
common law married to Denis (we've been together for 9 years almost)
he's also my baby (what man is not just a big kid???)
and he's also my pet
LOL

-Hobbies outside of the gym
i love anything artsy (any art projects), i'm an interior designer, but love designing anything and i also LOVE cooking

Anything you want to say. Also including a picture would be nice!
Tracy is my coach, and I love her to death, and I am a proud little trainee of my IFBB Pro Coach

Hi my name is Gena, the owner of the board.
I have been heavy lifting on and off for 15 years. This past year and 1/2 I have really started putting some muscle back on. I use to walk 5+ miles a day, but have cut way back on that. Cardio is not my friend,
I have done 5 shows, my 1st was BB in 2000. I did 4 local shows between 2004 & 2005, I place 1st in 2 and 6th in the other two. It was in figure, judges told me to do BB due to the amount of muscle I have.
I am married to Prince aka Rob, we have been together for over 17 years and going strong.
We have 1 son, 19. Love him dearly, but he keeps us challenged.
My goals are to train hard WO injuries, keep good people close and distance my self from not so good people, and to be the best person I can be.
We have 2 super cute, yet noisy dogs.
I love going to movies, concerts, dinner with my man and friends. Like Tracy, I like to be waited on. We work for ourselves, so not having to cook is always a treat. i love reading Jackie Collins novels and Hollywood gossip. I tend to drink more then I should, there is no excuse, but my life can me stressful, and it helps me unwind, also I am a little shy, so it helps me open up easier.
Ok, enough about me. It is nice getting to know you all better

that is awesome that you are an interior designer. I hate our bed room and I am not creative at all. Within the next month or 2, maybe I could hire you to help me in that area. Just an idea

Mums the word!!! Shhhhh!!!

That is awesome you're training for your first half marathon! How exciting! How are you exactly prepping for it?

I use to be a runner in my college days. I ran the Honolulu Marathon couple of years in a row until some minor injuries made me hang up my running shoes.

Wishing you the best!

I'll need to see pictures, but I would say figure or bikini? Again, not too sure without seeing pictures and how much muscle you carry on your frame.

Whether I was training for figure, bodybuilding or physique, my training was the same. Intense and heavy! But again, also depends on what your goals are.

No, no special weight, height or bodyfat measurements, but when competing, you are striving for a certain look.

Bikini, Figure and Physique are categorized in height groups.

Bodybuilding weight classes.

They all have different looks so depending what you want to strive for, you base your diet off of that.

You should google to see what kind of shows are in your area. Google NPC.

I'm always available! You can pm me too!

we all have weaknesses, admitting them is the first step to overcoming them. i, for instance, tend to overload on sugars during my cheat meal - seriously, once something sweet hits my mouth - i can't stop - and then next day, believe it or not, i feel hung over (believe me, i know the real hungover feeling from my earlier years when i wasn't competing)
also I am a little shy
i would never know that you're shy! are you telling me i've never seen you sober?
XOXO

Long story short....in college I lived with the cross country running team. And for 38 years my mantra has been "running is bad for you" and I avoided it like the plague.

IAB wants to run his 2nd marathon in May 2012 so for Xmas I hired him a trainer - one of my former roommates and she said "I'll train you both...." so there you have it. I'm doing it because it's better than standing around waiting for 3.5 hours

.....and to prove I'm still right, my knees and my shins hurt LOL! But at least taking up running is giving me an excuse to go shopping for running wear.

Honolulu is rated a TOUGH marathon because it's hilly - nice job!

Hi, I'm Lauren
-How long you've been training?
In high school I did what most girls do, cardio and abs, but within the past year, I've started in on the weights.
-What your goals are?
My goal is to bench my bodyweight at least, maybe more, and to compete in my first figure competition hopefully this summer. We'll see how that goes lol. I've been dieting for the past month to try to get the bodyfat % I want.
-Have you competed before? Contest history etc...
No, I've never competed before, but I can't wait to try.
-Are you married, kids (?), pets (?)...
Not married yet, but close enough. Head over heels for Deity; he's actually the one who got my started in the gym. No pets at the moment either, just too busy.
-Hobbies outside of the gym
Outside of the gym, I love to read, paint, draw, anything artsy. Working on a college degree as well, just not sure what direction I'm heading in with it, though I know it will be in the medical field (genetics probably or chemistry).

hahaha. That worked out perfect then! 2 for 1!

Knees and shins was my reason for hanging up my running shoes. Before every run, I had to bandage myself up. My last run I realized how dumb I looked (LOL) and said to myself, I am done. Joined a gym shortly after that, started lifting weights and never looked back.

I have a lot of similar hobbies but not the medicine - though i love everything about our health and how our bodies and minds work (which basically is genetics and chemistry ) i'm really anti-american-healthcare system.
Are you going to med school?

I have a feeling Providence will be my debut and my retirement.

Hello everyone!

How long you've been training?
I have always been active in sports through high school and loved to work out. About 2 yrs ago I attended my first BB show which opened my eyes to start lifting and eating clean.

-What your goals are?
My goals are to compete, gain muscle, lose fat and continue to live a healthy life style!

-Have you competed before? Contest history etc...
My first show will be March 24, 2012

-Are you married, kids (?), pets (?)...
Not married, no kids, do have a boyfriend and a dog

-Hobbies outside of the gym
I love to snowboard, I have been on the slopes since 4yrs old.
I run in 1/2 marathons and hopefully one day I can train for a full.
I love spending time with family and friends, going out to dinner, the movies etc..

I also just finished my Bachelors of Science in Sports Med and pursuing a masters in Physician Assistant Studies. For now, training and studying hard to reach my goals.

I agree with you on the healthcare bit. I haven't decided if I am going to go to med school or not; Like I said, I'm a bit unsure of what direction I'm going to take.
