Whats up everybody. A freind of mine who competes says he eats alot of broccoli before a contest he says that if you eat say 100 cal of broccoli your body uses say 150 calories to digest it is this true or am i missing something are their foods that your body has to use more calories to burn than others. Thanks.

I have heard that before, but the problem i see with eating so much broccolia is:

1. To get 100 cals from broccoli, you have to eat tons of broccoli(its mostly fiber).
2. I'd be afraid to crap my pants on stage.
3. If you need to burn 50 cals, why not just eat 50 cals less during the day? Thats like one bite of chicken less or something.

It would take, about 2.25 cups of brocolli (@22 cal per 1/2 cup serving) to account for 100 cals...which really isn't too much. But the "negative calorie" theory isn't one of any substantial value from what I understand. Then again, I could be wrong...and I don't compete...yet.

You would have to eat 5 Cups of broccoli to equal 100 cals after fiber. Thats a shitload of broccoli - no pun intended
