If someone goes on this the first couple of weeks during induction stages what happens if you do really good for 7 days not eating more than 20g of carbs then you have a bad day and eat like 150, then you go right back on the atkins diet. Does it take another full 2 days to get into ketosis. My friend is trying to find info on this and I told him someone here had to know so I was trying to help him out. What you think?

that is kind of like a CKD diet. Using a carbup. Do a search for CKD or Lyle McDonald and check that out.

In my opinion ketosis is not necessary for fat loss. However, some sort of cyclyical diet seems to work best for most. It works well for me when cutting. I do low carbs for three days then have a carb up in my last meal on the fourth day. Then I go two more days and have a carb up in the last meal on the third day. This way I keep my metabolism runing by making my body think I am not on a diet. It also helps to keep me out of a possible catabolic state as well as keeping me from ketosis.

Yes...it could take up to 2 days to enter ketosis again...however, that's not necessarily a bad thing...I agree w/ P-funk in that ketosis is not necessary for fat loss...and given the fact that your friend is probably not eating 75-80% of his calories from fat I doubt that he's actually in ketosis in the first place. If in fact he is getting 80/20 Fat/Protein and he was kicked out of ketosis, then it's still not a bad thing in terms of losing fat

When on a cut trying to lose body fat how many grams of carbs would you recommend a day?

Start with as many carbs as you can consume while still losing weight. It is different for everyone. I start my cuts around 100-120 carbs. Then I slowly lower it from there and replace the carbs I am taking out with more fat and protein, keeping the cals in about the same ballpark. Then I start droping cals and carbs slowley as the cut progresses. You have to find out how many carbs you can get away with. Carbs are protein sparing so if they are higher in the begining of your cut you may still be able to gain/retain muscle while losing bf while in a caloric defecit. Also, startinf higher leaves you some place to go.
