First make sure you need it....many times slightly high iron means high hemaglobin...and improves athletic performance.....

Do they test your hemaglobin when you give blood? I did on Wednesday. My HCT (?) was 46%.

Yes they do......my is 55...considered high....they want you at 38 or higher when you donate........I believe on some scales 52 being the higher limit, with anything over 42 raising an eyebrow. People living at higher elevations often have higher readings...
