Pork skins

.5 oz 80 Calories

Total Fat 5g
Sat Fat 1.5g
Cholesterol 20 mg
Sodium 220 mg
Total Carb 0g
Sugars 0g
Protein 8g

I thought they were super unhealthy but I noticed it is on the menu for an Atkins dieter. I am not an Atkins dieter but I am always looking for protein sources.

Is this an acceptable source for protein if you are trying to burn fat? Why or Why not?

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely not! Do you know how much fat and sodium you'd have to eat to get a decent amount of protein out of them? Stick to clean healthy food sources. *shudder*

I used to eat 'm when I was on Atkins

I wonder where the protein comes from... it's just pork fat deep fried right?

Posted by: blueboy

That is what I thought. I will steer clear of those.

Thanks for the quick response w8

Not necessarily...
When on the road, my meals are 2servings (1/2sm bag) pork skins and 40-50g P worth of jerky or 2 jack links cajun stick things

50-60g P
10g F
9g C

Killer on sodium, way too much.

if eaten on occasion as opposed to on a regular basis is what I meant. And they're a better fat source than protein
