Baggies or tights? (mtb ?)

For you few guys/gals that ride here. What do you wear? Baggie's or Tights (shorts)?

I just bought a pair of baggie's from the clearance rack at Academy Sports. I was always scared to try them because they are so expensive and I didn't want to make a $40 mistake. Anyway, I got these $40 shorts for $4.

The fit was fine. They seem to support me ok. I didn't have to worry about adjusting my willie to make sure I wasn't pointing at everybody (a definite plus). They had pockets, another plus.

Riding was a completely different story. Sitting in the saddle and just spinning every thing was ok. Once I got to some technical stuff is where things got really funky. They hung on the saddle MANY times. A couple of times almost resulted in yardsales (as Dero puts it).

End result: I'm going back to tights. They dont hang up on anything. You can get behind the saddle at a moments notice and get back on just as quick.

I wear baggies all the time. I prefer them for several reasons. I like that they have pockets to hold things, I think they are more comfortable, and I think they look better. I prefer baggy shirts, and a baggy shirt with lycra pants just looks silly. I realize riding is not about how you look, but no one wants to look like a goof.

Every once in a while my baggies get hooked on the saddle, but I've learned how to unhook them pretty quickly. My baggies are knee length, so I don't hook that often.

What brand did you buy? I have a pair of Fox shorts and three pairs of EMS shorts. The most I have paid is $34. It's all about clearance sales.

BTW, I do own a few pairs of tights. I wear them under my long pants for cold weather riding, and I wear them under non-lined bike shorts.

It's the "In-Sport" brand. Not a top of the line brand but they are ok. Kinda like Academy's house brand. I think part of the down fall to these is the "breathable" inseam. Its made of strechty lycra.

When I do the urban thing I wear tights under my lee dungaree shorts, and I have no problems there.

For men, it should be Tights in a dark room..... black only!!!

Boo! Hisssss! Go away non-mtb'r

You have to ride to understand. Besides... I look good in tights.

Tights baby.................I don't want to get caught in any quick turn or moves. That could be fatal during a fast downhill ride!! Plus, with a tight jersey it looks cool as hell. Ain't cheap though! The support they give also makes my muscles feel better after a ride.

whoops, I was thinking of spinning classes only!

LMAO!! I've tried both baggies and tights and prefer the tights. But then again I don't have a willie to adjust -

spacers? you mean on the steerer tube? There's only 3, I think. Better to have more and then cut later than cut to much first!

My weiner is to big to wear tights

Posted by: sawheet

Ok seriously now I prefer baggies, more comfortable and fashinable I might add

Yep,

If you cut to much, you could always use your handy, dandy steerer tube stretcher.
