Severe cramping in abs

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but I have been experiencing sever cramping in my abs. It is isolated to my upper right ab. It has happened a few times while relaxing at home but today it happened in rush hour traffic and I thought I was going to wreck the car. I could not stretch in the car and basically had to push it down with my fist to make it stop somewhat before I could pull over. They are so severe that I am almost screaming in pain. I have not worked abs in about 4 days.
I am definatly not dehidrated, and my sodium is neither low nor high. I am not on a cut. I know most of us here are not doctor's, but does anyone have any ideas' what might be causing this, or how to get it to stop????? Sorry about the long post.

Not exactly sure what to say...other than this has happened to me before...and it's odd to say the least. My assumption was that I may be slightly dehydrated combined with a build-up of localized lactic acid...I know it's nothing concrete but it's the best I could come up with??

I used to get this all the time in the abb area and lat area. I was told it was a lack of calcuim and mag. If this is true or not I don't know. I do know I got a calcuim supp and the crapping went away. Hope it helps.

Taz.....good point....whether it's the calcium or magnesium I don't know...but it probable has something to do with a combination of dehydration and/or electrolyte imbalance...trouble with electrolytes is that you need the correct balance and loading up on supplements of one will through the balance off with another. This happens a lot when people mess with their sodium and potassium levels as well as calcium and magnesium.

increasing mineral intake might help, but as far as I know science has yet to discover the exact cause(s) of muscle cramps.

Thanks for the advice.... I'm drinking plenty of water, but probably do need to take a good multi-vitamin, incase it is a mineral thing.
