too much cardio

i've been told from this forum to keep cardio to a maximum of 3 times per week so i wont lose muscle. the guy at the bodybuilding store tells me to do cardio 5 times a week and i have read an article how towards the end of cutting you do 6 times per week and going as low as 1000 cals per day?

i dont wanna lose more than 1.5 pound per week, since more than that and u lose muscle.
a pound of fat is 3500 cals and 1.5 pound is 5250 cals,
and i burn 2700 cals a day, i eat 2100 cals each day, that means i lose 600 cals per day * 6 days a week( 7th day i eat maintenance) equals to 3600 cals. from 5250 theres 1650 to burn on cardio . i do 3 times a week 500 cals burned per session.
does this make sence?

Generally, anymore than 1.5-2lbs loss a week is muscle, but at higher bf%'s you can drop more while being protected from catabolism (unless you just stop lifting).

Just do interval sprints 2-3 times a week for about 20 minutes and assess the results.

I doubt you'll manage 20 minutes first time unless you're used to them, so expect to start wit about 7-10 minutes and buidl up gradually.

dont even think about it. TCD's right.work your way up to 20 min, 3 times aweek. this should work fine. 45 min...sheesh

I have been mountain biking a lot lately. We're talking three/four times a week, 3 hours at a time. I am starting to lose some upper body muscle, but my legs are getting bigger. I'm not trying to build a huge upper body though, so it really does not bother me.

what if u do more cardio than needed, can u eat more cals to make up for that?

Although it took me a long time to accept, I now believe that changes come from diet changes and not simply cardio. I am trying to lose my last few pounds very slowly (to minimize LBM loss, like everyone else) and I have gone from doing cardio 5-6 days a week for 30-45 minutes to cardio a maximum of three days (sometimes two) and I have seen much better results and slowly my weight has been dropping (averaging about 1/2 lbs per week)
