Super Slow Lifting

I have read about it, and tried it on and off for a few months.

People look at me like I am crazy when I put on that little amount of weight on the bar (1/3 my usual bench) and go 15 seconds down, 15 seconds up, but I definetly feel the burn.

Anyone have any experiences or information about supers low lifting they could share with me? A search of the forums yielded nothing.

In my opinion super slow lifting is crap for a couple of reasons:

1) It is not fuctiional. Strenght is affected by 4 variables...(1)the
plane of motion you trane in (2) the range of motion you train
in (3) the environment you train in (ie balance and coordination
exercises) and (4) the intent of speed. Movement in everyday
life is affected by these variables. Movement in everday life
however does not happen at super slow speeds. So if you
are training that way then that is how you will be strongest.
When is it ever necessary that you lift something at an
extremly slow speed? Try lifting it faster now and you may
injure yourself. The same holds true for not utilizing a full
range of motion.

2) certain muscles types respond better to different stimulus. The hamstrings are long fusiform muscles. These muscle types respond best to fast, explosive movements. So why would you want to train them in a slower fashion?

just my opinion.

As a changeup look into TUT, where a "set" = 45-60 seconds of workout. Super slow lifting generally though while may create burn, burn doesn't equate to muscular growth. Its just lactic acid buildup. I.E. grab the pink dumbells and do 500 reps and I bet you'll get some burning going on too

If I go too slow it really impacts the amount of weight you can use. A little slow I like, but I do believe there is such a thing as going overboard.
