While on cut
Can I have these item,

"Apples
almonds
walnuts
natural sugar-free peanut butter"

within the diet as much as I want?

Pat why don't you start a journal to ask all these questions

Yes, providing their are within your caloric, fat and carb restriction

Posted by: donescobar2000

Yea u can eat them. I would leave out the apple. It is a natural sugar. Fructose. Fruit is actually not ideal if u are trying to cut unless they are berries. But you may be able to squeeze it in. As long as it stays in your carb limit.

Apples are a slow burning carb. They are good for you! Just work the apple into your plan 21G Carbs per med. Apple. Eat Up!

Posted by: donescobar2000

I guess I am 50/50 on the apple. I have one occasionally.

Posted by: calalily1972

Apples, peaches, grapefruits and berries are all great Slow burning carbs. Nothing wrong with them AT ALL!

Posted by: donescobar2000

I agree on the Strawberries. I almost kicked in a whole box the other day.

Posted by: calalily1972

The fruits I mention can be interchangable with oats, sweet potatoes, legums and brown rice. Why don't you agree on the fruits?

Posted by: donescobar2000

I do...certain ones. Fructose. It is a natural sugar. Any Berry goes though they are low glycemic.

Posted by: calalily1972

So aren't the fruits I mentioned. Read about slow burning carbs in the Newbies Start here.

but not everyone's plan can include legums

Posted by: calalily1972

I disagree about the legumes. I think they can be included and see nothing wrong with them. But thats me. Sara, follow what you've been instructed. I'm just voicing my opinion.

Posted by: donescobar2000

Legumes are not part of my diet at all. Don't know why...I guess I am not really a legume fan. Except for my version of refried black beans. Yum!!! Everything in the berry family is ok. Yea banana In moderation is fine but honestly it is a no no. I normally slice them and eat them moderately. An apple Like I said occasionally. But Any form of sweet weather dextrose and all those other "roses" are not ideal for cutting. IMO

A banana is a no no!!!

Grapefruit and apples and peaches and berries are fine, not a banana.

My friend has dark circles under his eyes, and he was advised that a banana would be the best cause. I know banana has sugar but then where else can you get potassium from?

How do you know what is slow burning and what's not?

How do you know what is high in GI?

Posted by: calalily1972

Glycemic index measures the effects of equal quantities of different carbohydrates on blood glucose levels. Vegetables and high-fiber whole grains, which have a low glycemic index, are necessary components of any diet. Such slowly absorbed nutrients are considered "good carbs" and can contribute greatly to overall health, satiety, and weight loss. Refined and processed carbohydrates as in cookies, crackers, white bread, and white rice have a high glycemic load, and their easy digestion causes a rapid elevation in blood glucose and insulin levels.
