Hiya I am 18 yea rold from the UK with LOADS of debts, but weight training is my life, can anyone suggest a routine that I could do once/ three times a month that will help me to gain mass?

Once a month, nooooooooooooo way.

Once a week, you could do some kind of fitness routine, but get big? I dont think you would get very far, and that is my honest opinion.

Why do I say that? Because the body wants homeostasis, it does not want needless, wastefull muscle that does nothing but sit there and burn calories. To break the bodies tendency to dump muscle you must be regular with your diet and your workouts, just like Bruce Lee doing what he did all day long, REGULARITY and PERSISTENCE is what pays off in the long haul. I do not believe there is any 10 minute a day and look like Mr Olympia program, nor do I believe there is a train once a month and be He Man program either. Not even with steroids.

I'd say if you can only find three times per month to exercise, then you need to really work on your time management. If working out is a priority, then you will find the time.

20-30 minutes of training 3 times a week is doable for anyone, and if you tell me it's not, I'll look at your schedule and find it for you. Quality over quantity is the best way to go anyway IMO.

You could do a full body routine 2x a week or a high volume upper/lower body routine once a week.

you won't get the best gains but you see some

Now I'm confused, I thought in the other thread a lot of you guys were only hitting one body part per week and succeeding fine?

say you do 20 sets a week for legs, it doesn't really matter if you train:

1x a week doing all 20 sets

or

2x a week doing 10 sets per session

or

3x a week doing 6-7 sets per session

So your going to go to the gym once a week 4-7 hours a day? Unfortunately that wont work, as natural hormone levels start to drop off somewhere between 45-60 minutes. Plus, if you think you can work 100% through that entire workout, your not trying hard enough.

Not one body part each week....each body part done once a week...so all body parts are worked once each week. There is a HUGE difference.

Exactly, for me its a 5 day in the gym, 2 days rest program, so I do more than one bodypart per day but I cover the body once a week.

I'm an advocate of HIT and I think 1-3 w/o per month is too little. You can make some substantial gains using full body or split routines which work the muscle groups 2-3 times every two weeks, however.

Have done ALOT of budgeting and have cut out alot of crap that I can afford to live without, so am able to train 5x a week, but when my cash runs out I'll have to stop

what does working out have to do with money?

you don't need to goto the gym, workout at home

get a weight, set, u can get one for like 200 bucks with weights, and thats all you'll need...

You don't need a gym to work out. Just be creative with things around your home or yard. Think about what strong man competitors do to train. Find heavy things lying around and make a work out out of picking them up. Set them up at one end of the yard, carry them to the other end and time yourself. You can do marine or army type workout. Bodyweight plyometrics are great too.

I got my Olympic set for $99.
