Proteins Vs. Calories

Hey guys, I'm gonna start doing Deca + D-Bol next week, and I want to know how many calories, proteins, etc. should I take each day. I heard that it will be a good idea to eat at least 4000 calories/day and 175 g Protein/day, is this correct? By the way, when eating big amount of calories does that include Junk Food? I will appreciate your comments. Thanks

Mel
Ps: I'm 180 Lbs, but to tell you the truth I just want Lean mass.

There is no single "correct" answer because everyone is different, sounds like your bodyweight is pretty average for your height. How many calories are you taking in now?

I would go with 2g protein per pound of bodyweight over 5 to 8 meals a day, 5 being the minimum, which is very easy for me to achieve, 6 if you can do it allows for a meal about every 3rd hour.

Calories you have to answer.

I would say that I'm taking about 3000 calories/day. so what about Protein? how many should I take?

Thanks

so in my case (180 lbs) that will be a total of 360 g/day ?

Sounds right to me, did you use a calculator?

That would be my recommendation, I might even go higher, but I think 2 is "enough." I have been as high as 2.17g per pound which for me at that time was around 520g a day.

If your going to eat dirty you can maybe pull back to 1.5-1.75g per pound, and just step up the carbs/fats alot, but I prefer to eat clean if I can otherwise I get fat and hold water way too fast, which also means high blood pressure.

Thanks Mudge, no I didn't use a calc << too difficult for me, I went back to my math notes.... LoL..............anyway, 360 g seems too much if ur not eating yunk food. By the way, I'm pretty sure you're very familiar with Isopure, Whey Protein, etc. and stuff like that. do you know how many g of protein will I get from a glass of milk and two scoopfuls of Isopure, supposedly it's like 50 g, but after putting all this in a blender I usually get like three glasses of this Isopure shake, so I'm not sure how that works, if you know please let me know. Another thing, what about Protein Bars, any comments about that?

Thanks

I have read that milk mixed in with whey denatures the protein, BUT I have never read an article that stated that, just a comment.

I dont drink milk because it makes it greatly inhibits staying lean for me, and if I eat how I choose to I will stay 15-20% bodyfat all year long, so I dont drink it. Most whey products are 22-25g protein per serving, if you need more throw in more. I currently pay $19.99 for 6 pounds of whey at Costco (local bulk foods place).

I would try to go for at least 50% real food. Does it sound freaky? Yes it does, but I tell you what, if you are going to gain muscle that takes others a whole year or TWO to put on and your doing this in two months, do you think your current diet is going to hold up? My french is poor but I think the expression is "fuck no."

Many people talk about training knowlege before you do steroids, my biggest opinion is diet stuff, I think training is a little simpler, and by no means am I an expert at any of this. If you cant eat though, then your not ready. Try to at least go for 1.5g per pound, but I would go for 2 unless you think its going to make you fat, however you can have very high protein and still have very low calories, so there is always a way to figure it out.

When I started out eating more I was the same way "how in the heck do I eat 6 times a day, how do I eat all that food," the answer is you just DO. I started out around 215 pounds which is what I weigh now (much leaner, stronger), and I eventually ate my way up to 240. Most people can eat more than they know they can, and no I never once threw up my food even though I was hardly ever hungry. After awhile with the fast weight gain though, I was getting hungry every 2.5 hours instead of not being hungry with every 3rd hour meal, so eventually your weight catches up with you.

I watched protein but did not watch much else at that time (lazy dieter). I ate mostly 2 chicken breasts (~64g protein for mine), rice with some flavoring thrown in (pepper, salsa, garlic, etc), and then would have some shake to go with it. So I got up to sometimes 7 meals a day, then later toned it down to an even 6 meals a day 85g protein per meal or so, then later toned it down even more to an even 80, and currently I am doing 360g protein a day.

Anyhow, you will have to learn some things on your own with experience, but if your going to be ON I would go for 1.5g protein + + +, so its your decision. I have seen people do 5 cycles and still be ~170 puny pounds, I dont ever say anything but when you read thier journals and they complain I was sick this week, went skiing that other week, didn't feel like going to the gym, didn't eat like I should, they are wasting thier time and its obvious. This is your time to grow faster than you ever have before, you can take advantage of it or you can eat coco puffs like so many people like to do, and then whine that they dont make the gains. Diet is important naturally, and for optimum gains its even more importantly when on. You may be taking a dump twice a day but get used to it, you dont gain weight from the air you breathe, you eat it.

This ended up long as I tend to rant, but you are going to have to put something on paper, stick to it, and feel free to make some changes if you see fit, just make sure to think about why your doing it before you make those changes.

Good luck

Hey Mudge, I really appreciate your comments and advices. That was a very informative response. I agree with you, in order to get some muscle you have to follow a good diet. Well, I guess besides eating real food, I will make sure that I drink my protein shakes + Protein Bars to make sure that I take enough g of protein everyday. When you get a chance, give me a list of some articles for a good diet. Thanks

Thanks for the compliment Sven, but really I know nothing about diet compared to the moderators in the diet forum, that is what I am working on fixing now, in both the dicipline and knowlege department. Its just not as exciting to study as the other things, but I want to see 10% bodyfat or so and see if I can hold it maybe even go for 8%ish but we shall see.

I have been having pizza pretty much every weekend, and I am going to see if I can avoid it this time, and frankly I am pretty darn sure that I can. It seems to cost me 1.5-2 days progress which is not terrible (~1800 calories, over 300% sodium!). I want to continue to lean out enough that the temptation is not that significant.

MELNYAS counting calories is what you'll need to do when it comes to raw weight gain, the protein equation is pretty simple, you shoot for a certain amount and voila - spread it through your meals as evenly as you can. I have generally been a lazy dieter going by the mirror and seat of the pants, as long as I had my protein count I did not pay much attention to the rest until I saw what it did to me. Either way, you'll need the calorie boost if you want to gain weight, I might say that you can step it up over 3-4 weeks time to reach your final total calories per day if you like. It usually takes around 3-4 weeks for most gear to "start to take effect." The Dbol itself though should get you kick started, and you should be getting great pumps within a couple-few days in the gym.

The distinct anabolic effect of nandrolone decanoate is mirrored in the positive nitrogen balance. As described in the previous chapter, nitrogen, in bonded form is part of protein. Deca-durabolin causes the muscle cell to store more nitrogen than it releases so that a positive nitrogen balance is achieved. A positive nitrogen balance is synonymous with muscle growth since the muscle cell in this phase assimilates (accumulates) a larger amount of protein than usual. The same manufacturer points out however on the package insert that a positive nitrogen balance and the protein building effect that accompany it will occur only if enough calories and proteins are supplied. One should know this since otherwise satisfying results with Deca cannot be obtained.
WAR 96

Close enough to regular Deca.
