Avants New Ad

(CLICK HERE here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Avant is coming out with a funny ad in IRONMAN magazine I believe, that takes a small shot at BIOTEST, VPX, MOLECULAR NUTRITION, AND EAS. It is cute, but I think it will just serve to help advertise the other companies and may piss off BIOTEST in ways that Avant may not want.

Funny though.

Posted by: ZECH

info man, info! What does it say?

Posted by: gopro

Lets just say that there are 4 monkeys in the ad wearing t-shirts from the companies I mentioned. I don't think this is a great ad, but it did give me a chuckle!

Posted by: david

If this is so, then what are their reasonings for this? Maybe someone from Avant can further explain this. Hmmmnnn... GP, where did you find this ad, anyways. Were the apes/monkeys at least huge? Well, I guess whatever works for them. I wish them all the best of luck with their products.

Posted by: Prince

Bashing other companies is not a new form of advertising.

Posted by: Mudge

Its illegal in some or much of europe to even compare one product versus another, I'm thinking Germany or Sweden.

Posted by: Prince

maybe, but not the USA.

The ad isn't out yet. I just got to see an "advanced" copy in a meeting with big Jack. We had a good laugh about it. I'm glad to see Avant is growing to the point of being able to advertise in a major mag, but IMO, they should focus on themselves and their products, not on the companies they are chasing.

And this goes for all companies.

Bashing other companies does nothing for ones credibility, but I hope to see it if it is funny. Is it all in jest?

Well, I cannot say they "bash" anyone, but the gist of the add is that Avant is a supreme being and the rest are just simple primates. Ever see 2001 A Space Odyssey?

Posted by: kdwa1

Sounds like fairly healthy competition to me.Just hope they can back up the bash with a superior product. Seems that most nutritional supplement companies think of themselves as the supreme being of the biz. Gotta stimulate those sales, right? They are however hitting the top players it seems.Interesting world huh GoPro?

Dolla Dolla bill ya'll...

Yes, seeing VPX in that ad is flattering for sure!

And yes again...very interesting world...

Posted by: Dale Mabry

Sounds all good to me. Hell, if you are gonna go after someone, go after the big dogs, who cares if you can knock off number 5, go for the top.

PS-I must add that any advertisement that has monkeys in it cannot be all that bad.

Why?

Because it makes you look insecure and makes the other companies look even better. By showing specific companies in your own ad you are admitting that these are the ones you are worried about. Better to focus on what YOU have and what YOUR products can do and not worry about what anyone else is doing.

I have been advertising businesses for 13 years now and I have seen what works and what does not. I have done surveys on what the public's perception is about certain types of ads and have learned a few key things...the above is one of them.

I know its in jest...that is why it made me laugh!

Yeah, I was agreeing with you, and responding to the others. I can't believe you got a preview. Bastard.

Actually, its the second ad. And see how effective it is? You didn't even notice the first.

That is bad that I didn't notice the first...and I don't know if I would have noticed the second if Jack did not shove it in my face while cracking up!

He is weird I must say!

Are you serious?

First of all advertising is an ever changing animal, and using new methods to get people's attention is good marketing.

How often do you stop and look at ads, watch tv commercials, or even click on banners on the net? We tend to get immune to all of them, until someone comes up with something that grabs our attention, that is the main point of advertising to gain your interest. If an ad fails to gain your interest, it pretty much fails completely. Have you ever seen some of the advertising in other countries? You cannot just stick to the same old boring shit, and worry about stepping on people's (other companies) toes. I have not seen this ad, but I can't wait, it sounds great.

Posted by: Tkarrde

This ad is certainly an eye-catcher.

Excellenty written too; I wonder who the mastermind over there is

Let's see it!

I'm serious as a heart attack Prince! Yes the ad catches your eye and screams..."We are afraid of the following companies!" I love the ad...I think it will increase revenue for VPX and do little for Avant.

Yes Tkarrde, that is my opinion and the opinion of everyone I asked. That is not a personal attack at all, so please don't get defensive. I have nothing against your company, and in fact am using Ab-solved right now.

Posted by: Prince

well, without seeing it I guess I cannot comment on that.

No no no...I didn't mean that you had gotten defensive, I was just saying please don't get defensive b/c of MY post. Sorry about the misunderstanding

Posted by: Twin Peak

Ironman is out, BTW. I picked up my copy on Wednesday.

Posted by: Prince

TP will you scan the ad and post it here?

Posted by: Twin Peak

I don't have a scanner.

Posted by: Twin Peak

LOL. I don't think scanning at my office is the best move either....

Um, you could BUY the mag.

Plus there are a ton of VPX ads in there, including Redline.

Yes, VPX is "ad crazy" for sure. I think they have every back cover for the upcoming mags.

Posted by: Par Deus

Glad the VPX guys got a chuckle out of it

Obviously, you guys are the big boys, which is why you and EAS were chosen, so I would not really expect too much animosity.

Also, VERY glad you got the 2001 reference -- some of the people we sent it to did not get it (Planet of the Apes comments and such)

Biotest got in because Berardi ripped off my Lepin articles (and, the T-Nation is probably good and ready for a leptin product.....)

Molecular, because Bill wishes he had the respect, as a scientist, that I have -- in those a little more educated than the ESPN crowd

I picked up the IronMan ad, today -- gonna try and scan real quick....

Well, my scanner doesn't seem to be working -- sorry

the only magazine I ever buy (and it's rare) is MD - Muscular Development.

btw, I cannot believe none of you losers have a scanner.

Well, I am a big fan of 2001, so I got it right away! No animosity taken at all. In fact, we find it flattering. Aside from that, I respect Par and his knowledge, and Avant as a company that puts out intelligent, cutting edge formulas. Good luck with it.
