I just checked out the vitamin shop here on xtreme focus.com and noticed that there's a zillion (well, almost that many) supplements for women. Half of them I've never heard of and the other half I can't even begin to pronounce. I currently take Xenadrine with an occasional Hydroxycut when the above mentioned doens't seem to work any longer. I want to lose about 12 more lbs while maintaining my musclular strength...which ones should I use?

90% of the supps out there are crap.
Stick with what you're taking now, and perhaps some glutamine.

Like TSB said, most supps are not worth the money. Take an ECA stack (Xenadrine, Hydroxycut, etc), glutamine, and multivitamins and you'll be fine. Just remember dieting is 90% of the game for losing weight. To help maintain muscle keep your protein intake up.

I agree with Blue and Supreme;try some glutamine, especially if you want to cut some weight without losing muscle.

Supplements are good, people just forget that they are just that, supplements. And they are not going to make you look like like Mr. Olympia. There are many supplements that get hyped up, and unfortunately the average person buys into it. I take quite a few supplements, but I take most of them for health reasons. I don't expect any immediate results, if any noticeable results at all. But I do think that I will live a longer, healthier life than most.

I think the biggest benefit of glutamine is that it helps your immune system.Dieting is a form of stress.Too much stress in the form of intense training or dieting can have adverse effects on the immune system, causing illness to occur. This is where glutamine becomes useful.

OK...so it's (glutamine) beneficial so that I won't get sick from dieting...but what specifically does it do.
Yeah, I know I could look it up online, but I figure I'll get a better answer from y'all.

Here's the book answer:
The amino acid, Glutamine, has become more prominent as new studies reveal its unique contribution to protein synthesis (muscle growth), anti-proteolytic (prevents muscle tissue breakdown) functions and growth hormone elevating effects.
Glutamine is the most abundant single amino acid in the blood and in the intracellular free amino acid pool (most abundant amino acid in muscle tissue). It comprises 61% of the amino acid pool in skeletal muscle. Glutamine's unique structure, containing two nitrogen side chains, consists of 19% nitrogen - making it the primary transporter of nitrogen into the muscle cell. In fact, glutamine alone is responsible for 35% of the nitrogen that gets into the muscle cell. Glutamine literally drives muscle building nitrogen into the muscle cell where it is synthesized for growth.
Glutamine concentrations fall markedly after training and remain low until complete recovery. What this means is, the very rigors of weight training leak nitrogen carrying glutamine from muscle tissue. This fall in glutamine is catabolic to muscle tissue. Supplementing with glutamine spares free glutamine in muscle tissue, counteracts the fall in muscle protein synthesis, and improves nitrogen balance

hmm...very interesting....thanks for the breakdown in plain English also!
If I was to take it this though, it wouldn't necessarily bulk me up would it? And is this something I would take along with the xenical prior to working out?

If your getting enough complete proteins in your diet then I wouldn't worry too much about the Glutimine.
Focus on your diet and let it do the work for you. You'd be suprised what a proper diet some patience and consistency can produce.

OK....three folks saying I should take Glutamine....what does it normally do?
I've improved my diet drastically thanks to everyone's advise and I'm feeling a lot more energetic because of it (Thanks!)

hmmm...I eat peanuts and once in a blue moon when I find time to cook I'll eat chicken, oh and flax seeds every morning, but that's about it for protein. I'm curious, earlier I think it was Blue Devil said to take an ECA stack (i.e Xenadrine, Hydroxycut, etc) but then I just found a product called ECA stack...so which is it? Is it a combination of normal drugs, or am I supposed to be taking this ALONG with the xenadrine. Also, I'm trying to still decide on whether or not to start on Glutamine. It sounds great, so that's why I'm wondering why a few folks say it's not worth it or not to bother. Have y'all had bad experiences with it and if so, what happened?
