"Carbs in a bag"?

Ok, so we've got a quick an easy form of protein - whey in a bag.

We've got a quick and easy form of fat - peanut butter, mayo, etc.

But for carbs... is there anything as easy to prepare as the above? Something thats similarly low on the GI as brown rice or oats.

I'm trying to clean up my "bulk/excuse for eating garbage" into a legitimate bulk. So i'm going from eating a loaf of wheat bread a day (plus gobs of other carbs), to something a bit more sensible... around 150/g day.

So, is there any food that fits the bill? All i could think of was sweet potato, which only takes a few minutes in the microwave.

Fruit. Healthy for you too

Oats are the easiest. I throw them in the blender with my shake.

Do you use steel-cut or pressed? I tried the steel-cut in my blender once... didnt do much. Still felt like i was eating little pebbles. Maybe i didnt blend long enough... :/

Anyway, i take it that there's no slow burning carb source in a form similar to whey? Is that even possible?

I don't use a "blender" I have a smoothie machine which has a more powerful motor.

You can always preblend them in a food processor.

Fiber One comes in a bag

NOW puts out a carb in powdered form made from maltodextrin. Works great for adding to my post workout protein drink too. 50g per serving.

Dextrose and malto are easy to find powders. He is looking for a low GI source.

Just thought of one, btw, proteincustomizer sells inulin.

Fiber One is a good recommendation.

Ive been told Inulin in amounts greater than 20g can lead to retinal damage. Have you heard anything about that?

And the fiber one i might try... but i think i'd be shitting petrified wood bye the end of the week.

I'm with TP on this. However I just use my blender. 1- 1 1/2 cup oats, 2 tbsp PB, 40g Protein, 1 ice cube, 2 cups water. I love that shake. Try to make it thick, put your blender on liquify if you have that setting. After, place the shake in a larger container, like a 64 oz gatorade bottle so you can swirl the drink inbetween drinks. works great for me.

^^^ i do the same only with not as many oats and i mix it half 1% milk, half water... it tastes heavenly!

also, i find the "liquify" setting is mandatory when adding oats... i blend on the highest setting for at least a minute or two in order to completely disolve the oats... i hate it when my shake tastes grainular or the oats just fall to the bottem...
