If we put whole oats in a blender, aren't we turning a slow carb into a fast carb by pulverizing it?

why bother putting them in a blender, they take 1 minute in the microwave and taste alot better.

Interesting question I've never heard or thought of. I'll wait for a response with you, but my initial thought would be that the texture doesn't matter- whole oats or blended. It's the chemical make-up of the carb that decides it's place on the GI index.

Put wouldnt grinding it into small particles increase its surface area, thereby increasing its rate of absorption, thereby creating a larger raise in insulin than you would normally have?

Of course, that could all be bunk, because im really not sure what im talking about.

Someone help plz? :/

By grinding them up, I think that I heard that it does increase the Gi, but slightly though. Oats as a whole take longer to digest, therfore making them a lower GI. But you should be cooking your oats anyways as there are some disadvantages in eating uncooked oats. There is certain good bacterias that get released by cooking them.
