How many grams of protein can be absorbed in one meal? I ask 'cause my shakes are 50g each.

i've heard anywhere from 30-60.
i buy this frozen fish, i think its pollock, from the grocery store. it has like 6 skinny ass pieces in it. the nutrition label on the side says 6 servings, and each serving has 30grams of protien. i have to eat the whole bag with a huge side of rice or something else cuz its the fish is like nothing. but i get like 180 grams of protein....too bad i can't use it all haha

A 7 year old girl and a 25 year old 300 pound freak are not going to absorb the same amounts, so dont ask the question!
I would say generally nobody needs to go beyond 1.5g per pound, spread it out as evenly as you can across 6-8 meals, thats a good starting point. Plus we can start talking insulin if you want to talk protein use versus waste (conversion for energy) and that gets into a bunch of stuff, dont expect a generalized rule for everybody, thats stupid.

All of it will be digested. Some of it used for repair and bodily funtion, some will be converted to energy and some will be stored bedending on macro breakdown caloric intake.

This is a long discussed topic and you will hear various explanations depending on who you talk with. How much protein you can absorb in one meal will be determined by:
1-Meal timing: our needs and ability to digest and utilize protein will change throughout the day
2-Amount of Muscle: the more muscle you have, the more you can use
3-Type: each protein source has its own bioavailabilty
4-Activity: harder trainers will need and use more protein
Its safe to say that at any given time we can absorb 30-75 g of protein. Our needs are highest in the morning and post workout meals. Split the rest of the meals up evenly according to overall daily intake.
