I had a great day at the gym focusing on only my chest and some cardio. As everyone knows I have lost a great deal of fat in the last 7 weeks now. I honelstly have been working very hard a the gym, cardio, and diet. I have not seen very much change as far as definiton. The only place I see a diffrence is my triceps are starting to form some what but thats it except for 30 pounds lighter. Yeh this is a shity post but I had to share. I think I will start to take pics every two weeks so I at least can see some diffrence. I have to do this i know i can i know i can i know i can i know i can. HA ha.

Give it a few months.

Don't be impatient.

Know that with each workout you're one step closer to your goals.

You'll know you're on the right track when women start swarming around you trying to feel your chest or biceps.

Pictures every 2 weeks? That's kind of excessive.
Keep a detailed training log: sets , weight , reps, exercises etc
and take pictures and measurements of key body parts about every 6 weeks.

But don't get too sexy or the gay guys who bench 500 pounds at the gym will make you their towel boy.

dude... you are the man... just know that it really does get easier... I remember at my heaviest when I would come home sometimes and feel so weak I would almost feel faint... these days I come home and rip off my shirt to see how ripped I look after an agressive workout... I'm happy for you and enjoy hearing about your good (and bad) progress...

Change is semi-slow for me too, thats just how it goes. I can gain weight without problems, but cutting is not very easy for me.

This is just what I needed. Thank you. I think that this forum is a great learning tool but also a motivational tool as well. Now time to open up the cd player and listen to some rocky eye of the tiger. Later

Hey mayo if you dont mind me asking what was your heaviest weight and how long have you been lifting

Posted by: Mudge

I've been to 240, came down to 234, then 231 staying there for awhile. Then eventually dropped all the way down to 210 which is the lightest I have been in about 2 years, but in much better shape. Now I'm 218 last time I weighed in.

Posted by: HoldDaMayo

I was between 210 and 205... I'm 5'11"

6 months ago at almost 210 pounds I could BARELY finish a set of 10 2 hand preacher curls at 40 pounds... after that, my arms felt like jello...

I lift a lot more now and only weigh 175 pounds...

I started with exercise and slowly integrated dieting after I started to learn more about where I wanted to go and what it would take to get there...

Ok please help me put this into retrospect. Dont meen to sound like a broken record. Im 6 foot 1 went from 241 to current 208. I still have a love handles and alot smaller man boobs than before plus a stomach. I think this is the proper weight for me now and it will just take some time to mold this fat into muscle. Right? or do I need to loose some more weight?

Posted by: HoldDaMayo

depends on your skeletal size i believe... but for 6'1" anywhere from 185-210 would seem a stronger healthy type physique... do you do sets of 10 reps with moderate weight or lower reps of heavier weight in your exercises... i noticed going heavier with a few less reps... somewhere around 6-8 allowed for better muscle development... as far as your love handles/lower stomach... expect those to be the last thing to go... they are by far the hardest to get lean... i feel pretty lean, but i still have a small layer of fat around my lower stomach and obliques...

Posted by: Mudge

I am 6'2", so 208 is not too bad. I felt pretty good at 231, but was holding alot of water and yes had more fat than I wanted.

OncewasFAt: Fat cannot be "molded" into muscle.

Hey Mudge, how much water do you drink per day?

Posted by: Mudge

Aboot 1.5 gallons, I keep 2 in the fridge at all times, and I drink at work 20 ounces about once every 1.5 hours.

Posted by: vanity

oh okay.

so you're not dehydrated.

Normally if people retain water they should drink more water.
People who retain water are often dehydrated - the body's survival mechanism kicks in and hangs on to the what it has in the body.

It was estrogen and sodium. I'm aware of "water starvation"

Posted by: vanity

my mistake. I keep forgetting you're a moderator.

maybe coz the word "Moderator" is dwarfed by your avatar.

: )

If there is anything I dont know much of its diet, so its a fair assumption that I'm stoopid

Posted by: vanity

I don't think anybody really knows that much about diet.
Every week a new fad comes around. The "experts" always disagree. There's so much junk you have to sift through...

I think diet is one of the hardest parts of training. It's such an engrained habit. As soon as we're born ppl start sticking food in our face( and usually not very healthy stuff). And then there's the whole biological-evolutionary and emotional aspect.

I try to keep it simple and make a point to have a good relationship with food and not starve of deprive myself. It is afterall the fuel that makes our Life, workouts and recovery possible.

I've recognized that for awhile, hardest for dicipline (all day long), and hardest to fully understand, its a constant study.

we probably wouldn't have to workout with weights if we still had to go out to hunt and kill for food. It's so readily available now. The convenience and availability has made us fat and lazy . YOu could get a pizza on any streetcorner. I feel sorry for all those kids growing up obese. They'll have weight issues for life.

Posted by: Mudge

Less physical activity, and crappier food in volume, yep. Like the woman who used to live down the block, would pack up her kids and drive 1.5 blocks to her moms house

Mankind constantly seeks ways to do nothing.

thats not very true, I used to be skinny till I got about 7 or 8, then I got really chubby and stayed that way until I was 15 in december. In December I talked with a few guys and they made me realize I had to get my big ass in shape or else I'd just be fucked. I m currently 16 and 205 (still not happy mind you) and glad that i lost that 75lbs people tell me omg Brandon you look so good and now girls see me as cute, adorable, and sweet. so its not very difficult to get into shape, its just staying focus and keeping it up

btw i did my cardio in the morning today and wow I m full of energy !!!!

OMG. That sounds almost identical to me Mudge. I'm 6'1" and those are my stats exactly except for the 'down to 210' part, and you carry more muscle. I got to 240, went down to 234 and stayed there for a long time. Then I got serious about diet. I'm 218 right now, but at 19% BF. My goal is 210 and 13-15%. Like you I gain fat easy and have a slow metabolism.

Posted by: Mudge

I maintain 210 around 2300 or so calories a day, doesn't take much for me. Low activity level (desk jockey), yada yada.

Posted by: MUMatt05

Good grief, Mudge. I'm 6'2", a bit lighter @197 now. I've been eating 3,000-3,500cals/day for the past month with little physical activity. My result? Up a whole 2 pounds(from 195).

Posted by: Mudge

I dont know if I have it easy or not, because I love dumping 2300 calorie pizzas and 2246 calories of ice cream
