Just how accurate are those Tanita bodyfat scales? I have some, have had them about a year, but the more I read the more worried I get about what the scale displays.

I am short, and I know I am big, but am I really 40% !?! I don't think in pounds and inches cause I am Australian, but I am 156cm and 73kg, have had a pregnancy a few years ago now. And I'm round in the middle

i have just started lifting some light weights (really light, 1,2,3 4kg dumbbells) and doing a few other exercises, and I got a bicep almost the first day so before that I probably had absolutely nothing, well, only enough to lift my arm to put food in my mouth anyhow.

They are not accurate in terms of Bodyfat. They are good for progress in weight. They are also not ideal for people with mass (muscle). I would stick with calipers.

For a quick comparison, try this site www.mybodycomp.com and use a tape measure.

Those BF scales are very inaccurate.

Argh, I went to that site, and put in my measurements, and it was spot on (+/- 1.5%) with what the Tanita scale tells me. I think I'm going to be sick.

Just start working harder and cleaning up your diet, you'll probably start losing bodyfat quickly.

I just tried the site Jersey Paul posted, and it showed me at 3.46 body fat %! What went horribly wrong?

Maybe the site ain't that great either, and my results are a coincidence.

I am on week three of the Body For Life program myself, so hopefully that will kick in soon.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I got a few laughs from the 'fat loss' forum on that site

How accurate is that for someone who does workout like 4-5 days a week, heavily. It says I am at 20% bf and I don't know if I should trust it or not. Or should I just find like a personal trainer to do it all?
