hey guys you know after a workout or training session. you need to replenish your body with carbs and protein. the protein is a no brainer - whey. but as for the carbs, i throw strawberries and banana into the blender with whey.
The question boils down to - are starwberries and banana a form of great carbs after a workout for glycogen replenisment and raise blood glucose level?

Try, using some dextrose and/or malto dextrin. The strawberries have lots of fiber and the banana has fructose which has a slow insulin response and preferentially repeletes liver glycogen when you want to replete muscle glycogen. there are many threads here on this about whether or not the post workout insulin soike is neccessary or not and many threads that discussing what is best post workout. Do a search.

Are you bulking or cutting or maintaining? It depends on your goals really. The berries are great for any form of diet. The banana however is not advisable while cutting. Remember, as Funky said, fruit replaced liver glycogen not muscle glycogen.

9. Make one snack ice cream. Have a bowl of ice cream (any kind) 2 hours after your workout. According to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, this snack triggers a surge of insulin better than most foods do. And that'll put a damper on post-workout protein breakdown.
--------

I been trying this for 4 weeks, im just starting.

Anyone else agree with this statement? what do you think.

lmao @ Mens Health. You can get a insulin response from alost anyfood that contains carbs. SUrely there are better choices than ice cream. But hey I agree that is the best time to have a treat if you are going to have one.
