It's true. I would love to see today's players go up against the old timers. They would get their asses handed to them.

And stop dancing for making a ****ing tackle. THAT'S WHAT YOU GET PAID TO DO ASS MONGER!!! Next time I get someone a harness (I work a climbing gym), I think I'll do a few pelvic thrusts and dance around like ****ing moron.

I hate football today. Bunch of overpaid whiney bitches. If I wasn't 5'9", 140 pounds, I would knock the shit out of those punks.

The thing that I hate most about sports today, football, baseball, basketball, etc. Is that it's all about money!
There are very few players that play for the love of the game. That makes me sick.

My dad's best friend is the same way. He only watches college ball now. But even now, most of them are all about making it to the big time and rakeing in the dough.

The fact is, the game generates billions of dollars. Would you feel better if the money lined the pockets of the owners and league bigwigs? I pay my money to see the McNabb's, the Faulks and Sapp's of the league. Well trained atheletes with unbelievable natural talent. They're the best at what they do. I dont buy that they dont love the game. Most show the effort that proves they do. As for college ball, that to generates billions. There are alot of people pocketing that cash exploiting young atheletes. Most of these kids wont go pro and are not prepared for college. They never see a dime of the money they help generate. F..k the NCAA, CFA and Bowl Coalition. I watch all sports and enjoy them all. I just dont think it's right when people take negative outlook to players because of the money they make.

It's not the money. I totally understand how the system works. It's their attitudes. A bunch of ****ing showboats, that bitch a whine and complain and act like children.

"Sweetness" had a nice saying; "Act like you've been there before." Humility and humbleness are good things.

P-Man, What percentage of players act the way you say. Unfortunetly the media give all the print to the "Prime Times" of the league. The majority of the players are professional in their attitudes. Also, todays player is superior to the player of yesteryear. There is no comparison, they're are bigger, faster and stronger. Due in large part to topics we discuss on this forum. Todays player works far harder and year round. There were jerks in the game long ago, just as there is today. The media now tends to focus more on the controversial than it did in the past. I tend to focus my attention on the class players of the league, not the primadonnas.

Football is not what it used to be. Plain and simple. I'm not even that old and I know it. I have no doubt that they work hard, (as shown by the death of one player earlier this summer). That's not what I'm talking about. It's just a crock of shit. As is all professional male sports which get huge media coverage (basketball, baseball, blah blah blah).

I think John Elway is a good example of what a football player should be!

He played for Denver his entire career (16 years), he was loyal. He could have went to many other teams and made a lot more money, instead he lowered his own salary so that the Broncos could recruit better players.

True! Elway was a class act. Played his entire career in Denver. That kind of thing is tougher these days with the salary cap. It's hard for teams to keep big names especially when they have several. I personally like the cap, because it provides an even playing field for all teams. The team with the biggest market and most money doesnt have an unfair advantage over smaller market teams. I still think you'll see mega talent players like Elway have long careers with teams. Smart organizations are now gearing there strategies on maintaining a core group of players through the prime of their careers. Most teams have learned observing the bone head management of Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder (sorry Skinfan).

P-man, The game ain't what is used to be? It's still football, except it's played at a higher level. What do you watch for entertainment?

As a matter of fact, I tend to shy away from sports now adays. I will probably catch a few games on Sunday or Monday. But that's about all.

When I find time for television, it is normally in the arms of my lady, or myself watching a documentary on something science related.

Does it really matter though? I wish it wasn't all about the money. I really do. Oh well. Maybe I'll catch some classic games on ESPN. They have some really cool football shows on during the day.

Prince, I am no donkey fan but I did admire Elway for more than one reason.Ya that was cool as far as taking less money but what I admired the most about Elway was he was TOUGH.
That is what seperates todays football from years gone by. Today a guy who is payed millions while running the ball will run to the side line in the first quarter, WTF??? The old boys would turn it up field even if only to gain one more yard. Todays QBs lack the toughness the old players such as Elway had that whould do what ever it took to win a game.
I agree that todays players are bigger, faster, and in better shape. BUT, they will never be as mean as the old guys who played for the game, not the money
