You folks have an extremely informative bodybuilding forum here with a diverse and intelligent cast of characters. Y'all seem to know a quite a bit about weightlifting and nutrition too. :-)
A little about me. I have been back in the gym on a regular basis for about a year now, after working out very sporadically most of my life. I was too busy drinking large amounts of beer and bourbon to work out. In the past year I have concentrated on losing excess bodyfat. I'm 5'9" tall. A year ago, I weighed 189 lbs. at about 31% bodyfat. Currently, I weigh 154 at about 16% bodyfat. When I do the math, it appears that I not only lost 35 total lbs in a year, but also that I lost 35 lbs of bodyfat. Phase I has been a success. I have definitely gained some muscle during the year - six to eight lbs would be a good guess - but they don't fit into the math somehow. In any case, my goal for the coming year is to gain 12 lbs of muscle and lose 8 lbs of bodyfat to achieve a bodyfat percentage of 10%. I'm currently concentrating on building muscle for a few months. Will cut the fat later. Any comments or criticisms are always welcome.
I appreciate the helpful attitude most members have. I may have questions from time to time and will also add information when I have something valuable to share. I'll also express my opinion when I only think I have something valuable to share. Is that fair? :-) I look forward to being a part of your forum.
