I thought this was a done deal. Now the NY Daily News is reporting this deal is falling apart thanks to Gary Sheffield's typical greedy, selfish behavior.

Sheffield is an ass.

In the words of one baseball executive, the deal "fell apart. Sheffield changed his mind and wanted more money."

What really sux about that is that my favorite player, Vlad Guerrero, may sneak back into the Yankee's plans. I don't think I could pull for the Yankees if my son was playing for them.

Montreal was going to make a final attempt to sign Vlad. I would hate to see such a great talent go to the Yankees

Sounds like Sheffield, would have fit in perfectly with the Yankee Organization, ego and all.

There is a probably a real good chance Vlad will end up on the Yanks. Man, that sucks. I'd rather the Yankees obtain Sheffield and his .230 post season batting average.

Actually, the Expos declined to offer him arbitration or sign him by last Sunday, so they can't even talk to him until May. Pretty safe bet at this point he's gone.

I guess I misheard on TSN(Canadian version of ESPN) the other night.

Are you an Expos fan? Do you as a fan or just as a Cadanian think they should leave the Expos in Montreal? Just seems to me that there are too many cities that would like a team to leave one where people don't really care.

no shit!

as much as it'd suck for the yanks to get sheff, it'll suck 10x's as bad if the yanks got the BEST outfielder in baseball (IMO he may just be the best player in baseball, even better than A-Rod).

Vlad played for the absolute worst team ever, and still hit like 40 homers, .330 ave. and in the 100's for Rbi. Plus, he has one of the top 2 arms in the league (the other is Ichiro), AND steals bases.

I would really hate to see Vlad on the yanks. I fuckin hate the yankees!

I.A.B.- maybe we'll just have our deal go through (Manny to Texas, Nomar to Anaheim, A-Rod to Boston), then sign Vlad MuWhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

What I think is funny is that Braves GM John Schuerholz wanted no part of Sheffield, after what happened with him and Gooden and that's why he didn't offer him arbitration.
Now Where is Sheffield going? I would have thought Atlanta would have wanted him back. He really screwed up!

Pepper no, not an Expos fan! Jays and Bosox. I think the Expos should be moved out of Montreal. Actually I think the should eliminate the team all together and have have a draft for the players. I think there are too many teams that are struggling in MLB.

The Jays used to be the the cream of the crop and now they cannot compete with the likes of the larger market teams.

Maybe an option would be doing something like they do in soccer with a Premier Division for the top teams and a Second Division for the smaller market teams.
