My favorite quote from the above link:
Quote:
His departure would be a blow for the AL champion Yankees, who had said re-signing him was their No. 1 offseason priority.

Looks like you are going to turn right around and acquire Kevin Brown.

Kevin Brown is no Pettitte IMO, but he certainly does fill the void.

I guess he just wanted to play in Houston!

Let's not talk about NY's loss, but Houston's gain. Houston is very close to being a serious contender, and the addition of Pettitte is HUGE for them. He's not joining some scrap team.

Just hope the Pettitte and the Astros don't meet the Red Sox in the World Series next year

NY will hardly be miserable because they lost one pitcher. They did add a solid starting pitcher with Javier Vasquez, might still add Gary Sheffield, and look to be adding Kevin Brown.

It will be interesting to see how all this Red Sox stuff falls into place. Still a lot that could happen with A-Rod, Keith Foulke, and Nomar's departure.

I don't think they'll be miserable, but as of right now, on paper, the Red Sox have pulled ahead of the Yankees, talent-wise.

You can't really blame a guy for wanting to play in his hometown. He did accept less money to play in Houston.

I think Jodi will join the couple dozen or so folks who go to the Cardinals games.

Petite has been saying he wanted to go to Texas for the longest time. His family is from there. The Yanks knew this day was coming.

LOL @ Pepper

bye bye pettitte..yanks will just get Brown...he'll get hurt though so I'm not worried...if we get foulke, we'll be untouchable...pedro, schilling, lowe, wake, williamson?...arroyo, timlin, embree, foulke...i like it...i'd love a-rod, but i have a feeling it'll be a bad move..i dont think it'll happen anyways..sox are comin for ya

Pettite is the big time pitcher the Astors need. They will have a solid three. Oswalt, Miller, and Pettite. Dotel will inherit the closer's role with the departure of Wagner. Btw, Dotel throws GAS!

man, yanks lose pettite, who do they get? k. brown, one of the top 5 pitchers in bball (when healthy). the guy is awesome if he can stay injury free, hopefully he breaks his spine the first pitch of the year.
