The St. Louis Cardinals traded outfielder J.D. Drew and all-purpose player Eli Marrero to the Atlanta Braves on Saturday for pitchers Jason Marquis, Ray King and Adam Wainright.

I hear the minor leaguer Wainwright is the key for St Louis in this trade. Supposedly he has the potentential to be a #1 pitcher some day. Looks like a trade that could work out well for both teams, that is, if Drew can stay healthy.

Wainwright pitched here in Greenville last year and is a very good pitcher. I like the braves side of this trade however. Particularly if JD Drew finally lives up to his potential.

Marrero is a solid hitter himself.

You guys are exactly right. If Drew can stay healthy, so far he has lived up to the hype but cant stay off IR long enough to help the cards. The cars need pitching like I need fat loss,BAD!!!!! Their pitching has hurt them for several years.

I didn't know the braves lost Javy. He will be hard to replace. Click on the Javy link in that article. The have his 2002 salary listed as 6 BILLION! LOL

It doesn't matter what player moves the Braves make. They will probably win the 90+ games and the east and then lose in the first round because Bobby Cox can not manage in the playoffs. Until Cox is gone the Braves won't win jack.

I would like to see Chipper and Andrew go too. The only guy I wanted to keep was Sheffield and that didn't happen.
