Which exercise targets what area?

Also anyone hear of throwing a towel over the bar and pull yourself up with it?

palms away is harder and its the way the millitary tests you. I feel palms in works the bicep more while palms out works my forearms.

this always had me confused. which is which?
i always called them close-grip pull-ups (palms facing in) and wide-grip pullups (palms facing away)

I've always known it to be:
palms in are pull ups
and
palms away are chin ups.

To me the palms in work the lower lats, and biceps mostly, palms out works the upper lats and biceps somewhat.
