i know most people opt to take their creatine with dextrose for the insulin spike, but i don't want to spike my insulin all the time. so the question is, can i just take creatine with a meal like rice and whey (my pre-workout meal) and have a more gradual insulin release to shuttle the creatine to my muscles. does this make any sense or is my knowdeldge of physiology ass-backwards?

My creatine says to take with food so there is nothing wrong with taking it with rice and whey meal.

you can, the absorption will not be as high, and more will be wasted rather than stored by your body.

I add creatine to my protein shakes.

Actually recent literature suggests that insulin spikes are not even necessary for creatine usage. I'll try and find an article. And you have a meal of rice and whey? Why not rice and lean meat? That just sounds strange.

Peace.

protein shake w/ dextrose or without?

right now i'm taking 40g of sugar + 40g of whey + 5g creatine right when i wake up every day and same thing again PWO on training days. My problem is that i won't be able to be taking in 80g of sugar on a regular basis once i start cutting down, i need a way to ensure creatine is absorbed in my muscles without all this sugar. is it possible?

I use a recovery type drink (Cytomax - which has malto-dextrine) that I start drinking during the middle of my work-out, finish it at the end, then I have a whey protein shake with creatine.
