Do you? And do you think it's necessary? If so, why?

i work abs once a week, doing hanging legraises and cable crunches. some people say they get enough indirect work, but i don't agree with that.

I don't work em. I would only work them in conjunction with a program that is aimed at driving my squat and deadlift loads up.

I very rarely work them directly anymore.

Yup!

My gym offers a 30min ab hell class that I take once a week. good for the abs and also counts as cardio.

Yep, work them twice a week, but only 3 sets of weighted crunches each time. Feel like they need a little extra attention.

I do'em once a week, just 2 sets of hanging leg raise and 2 sets of weighted crunches are all they need.

Once in awhile I'll do a set of side bends.

I do 4-5 sets of 25 reps of weighted crunches once a week.
I would say, Yes.. they help, not for the six pack thingy but for stabalization

I work mine once a week, a variety of different leg raises lasting about 15 minutes.

3 sets of hanging leg raises performed in the 12-20 rep range, every 5-7 days.I believe ab training is important for injury prevention and since it is a muscle like any other, I believe it should be trained directly.

i usually dont train them. im trying to start. I think you should train them so you dont create muscle imbalances and so you dont hurt yourslef on like squats and deadlifts

Very similar to what I do. A little direct ab works helps keep my midsection tight. I can see a difference when I stop doing ab work.

I do abs 5 days a week. I'm trying to get an 8 Pack

Great abs makes your chest look bigger. Even a chicken chest
like mine (LOL!!!!!)

I do abs atleast 3 times a week. I love doing them, but I've run out of ideas....

I teach a 30 minute ab class once a week at my gym and then train clients with the same routine 3-5 times a week, so my abs normally get a pretty good workout.

I work abs just like any other muscle group. 3 times per week.. I use the swiss ball and weighted crunches..

Posted by: bharminder

ginni, you work every bodypart 3 times a week?

Posted by: Maki Riddington

Dang you must have some abs of steel!

Posted by: Ginni

Yes.. I actually do a full body workout 3 times per week.. I used to alternate and do chest and back one day, legs the next and so forth, but with school and work I fit a full body into a 3 day a week routine. Mondays, Wednesday's, and Saturdays.

I work them once a week immediately before legs. I've found that by working abs first I'm better able to keep them good and tight for heavy squats. That way I don't experience any lower back pain. It probably sounds odd, but it works for me.
