I am curious whether any females on this site have used creatine, if so, what were their results?

I am nervous about taking it. But GoPro is recommending I take it because I want to add muscle mass. I trust him completely but I am looking for opinions......

Thanks!!

if your worried about bad effects, they are really overrated...creatine does not have sides....My old girlfriend took it and was fine...she loved it(as was alot more receptive to it tham me)

By starting this thread you are in fact showing you DO NOT trust me completely my dear.

Absolutely not true Coach... you are very busy and don't have time to answer every little question I have. You are also not a woman. All I want to know is what I should expect to happen to my body. I DO trust you completely, believe me I do. I want to hear about other's experiences, that's all.

there is nothing wrong with getting multiple opinions.

last year my mother's gyno doc advised her to have a hysterectomy, she has been going to him for years and trusts him, obviously he is an expert in his field. however becuase this is a major operation I told her to get at least one other opinion, she finally did and was told by the second doc it was not necessary. personally I think she should have gotten a third opionion and went with the "majority" on it, but she decided to hold off on the operation.

now, I also believe that getting to many opinions can be a hinderance as well, so you have to be discriminating.

my wife does not like taking creatine because she feels that it "bloats" her, you could always try it for a week or two and see how you react.

I wouldnt think it would be a problem, other than bloat. The only problem I could possibly forsee is extreme bloating during menstral cycle possibly, since bloat is already bad during that time? Of course, Im not an expert, Im just taking a stab at a possibilty.

BTW, whos that in your avatar .....

ya id like to know that too...hot :-P ...

Yeah, I heard about the bloating.... hmmmm

Posted by: J'Bo

well personally i would take it just like GP says.
in the summer i opt out because it bloats me.
to lift heavy and make some gains its great.

There is nothing wrong with taking Creatine. man or woman.

Women on the other hand are very opinionated about their looks. Creatine can make you bloat. When taking Creatine, you must keep an open mind; :The immediate gain is simply water and not fat!

If you're wanting to add muscle, Creatine will help you with your strength gains which, in turn, leads to muscle gain with some hard work and dedication. Creatine does not put muscle on you. It allows you to lift heavier by putting water into your muscles. Lifting heavier and straining your muscles triggers muscle growth.

My advice is: I would listen to your trainer. He's not going to tell you do to something that could possibly harm or get in the way your goals. If you can tolerate a little bit of water weight, you'll be fine. Just keep a good mental stand point. Keep telling yourself...."It's water, Not fat!"

Keep us posted

Im in agreement with Jen and Babs.
I take creatine in my bulking periods when trying to gain more mass and not caring so much what I look like, usually the summers are creatine free although this past summer halfway through I decided to begin bulking then. I LOVE creatine for the strength that it gives me, muscle fullness, etc. The scale does jump up a bit from the water retention and I tend to smooth over a bit... but you just have to keep reminding yourself that its water weight. once I stoped taking creatine this fall the water weight dropped about 5lbs in a week (if you look at my pics from november in the yellow those were taken 1 week after I stopped bulking just to give you an idea).
I think creatine is defintly worth taking, especially since you are trying to gain more muscle. Just dont let the water weight and bloat get to you. its water NOT fat.. I had to keep reminding myself that. and you'll love the strength in the gym.. heck I miss it.
Oh and you must drink LOTS of water, and I mean more then you are now. 1gallon is the LEAST, more is better.
Good luck with it hun if you do decide to try it.

They make Creatine for women which supposedly helps with the water retention issues regarding regular Creatine.

yes its a serum and its crap. creatine is NOT stable in liquids for prolonged periods. studies have shown that those serums only have 5% creatine in them, the rest is just stimulants and what not to give you an eneryg boost in the gym. this is why many woman and even men mistake it for being a good product --perhaps for energy but not for creatine benfits.

Sapphire,

The only way to find out on the Creatine issue is to try it out...then see what it does....for you.

Everyone is an individual, and everyone has a different experience...being a male my commentary probably isn't relevenat BUT, Creatine works great with me, but after 3 weeks it bloats me big time....I'm like a balloon...so I use it sparingly...

try it out, see what it does...there are not studies that suggest that the side-effects are long term, being a "natural" ingredient found in meat (yet).

Posted by: Sapphire

Hmm.. Ok well I guess I will try it for TWO reasons... all the women who answered my thread said TRY IT and GOPRO tells me I have to....

Thanks to Babsie for explaining to me what creatine does....

Thanks to all the rest of you too for your advice!!

I am gonna do it!!

at ^^^

sapph...taking the creatine really isnt a big deal....you will find great changes in your lifting power though. just remember to drink alot of water and cut down on your salt a bit.

btw the liquid creatine is crap..i took it and did not get anything from it...no lifting gains or even muscle fullness.

Posted by: BabsieGirl

Agreed! The Serum is yuk...worthless!

Yeah, I know it does. By the way, the particular brand of creatine that most of my female clients like is either...

-Creasol by Muscle Link
-Creatine Titrate by IDS

Both can be obtained through DPS.

Agreed..............

You have to remember also that water from creatine is intercellular. Not intermuscular.

What the heck does that mean???

Posted by: nikegurl

would it be better if she said she was looking for reassurance instead of other opinions?

i won't speak for saphire but i know when i first thought about using creatine i was worried and unsure. to a woman the mere possibility of "water weight" and "bloat" can be absolutely terrifying. i was ALL over the internet reading and posting questions on forums etc.

it was what dg said about the water being within the cells and not under the skin that made my mind up by the way.

It is in the cells in the muscles, not in between the skin and muscle.
I would feel like you didn't trust me also by posting this. I would rather someone ask me directly what experiences I had with woman on creatine. You are paying Eric. You need to fully trust that he is doing what is best for you. If you don't feel thay way, then you are wasting your money. You can get on here and ask any question for free. Put yourself in his shoes!

Thanks NG! That is exactly how I felt! Guys don't realize what we women deal with as far as bloating and water retention.

for your support!!

Posted by: Tha Don

creatine is too much hype

before I went on it people used tell me all these steroid-like side effects I would get! and how I would have to lift everyday with no rest of else it would not work and loads of silly stuff

put me off for a while, and I was very nerveous when I first started it

one guy said to me... it makes you HUGE! i took it and it made me twice as big.... blah blah! lol

theres not much to it, it just makes you that little more powerful so you can push out a couple of extra vital reps, or a extra set

the main disadvantage is you must drink loads of water!

thats really it summed up! Its a very safe natural supplement, and presently the most effective natural supplement around IMO

peace

I felt the same way ladies. I looked for reassurance from other woman that had used it. Men and womans bodys can react diff to things sometimes eh!
