Before I list the diet I'll state my goals and please let me know if my diet will help me get to where I need to be.

I'm currently weighing 280.5 as of 1/25/04, I'm about 6'1, age 31 and I used to lift weights quite a bit a few years ago as a result I still carry some decent muscle (but not enough). Anyway I would like to get my weight down to about 210-220 by the end of May. May is not a hard and fast date, its just more of a goal to help me push myself.

My diet will be composed of the following on a daily basis:

4:30 am - 5:30am - every hour I will eat a small serving of vegetables which will be anything from baby carrots, celery, brocolli. the veggies will be raw
6:30 am - my first real meal of the day this could be anything from tuna, chicken or pork
7:30am - 10:30am - same as early morning snacks, consisting of small serving of raw vegetables every hour
11:30am - small lunch which will basically be the same as breakfast
12:30pm - 2:30pm - snack on veggies
3:30pm - same as breakfast and lunch (I usually do my weight training at about 4:30pm so I'm thinking I should add a little more protein for energy)
6:30pm - same as breakfast and lunch except that the portions will larger
7:30pm - this is my final snack of the day which will be again just a serving of raw vegetables

What I'm hoping to accomplish is to keep my metabolism ultra high and also try to keep my carbs between around 25-45 grams. I'm not sure if thats low enough to maintain ketosis. I'm also not sure exactly how many carbs are in baby carrots, brocolli and celery but I'm assuming that it should be low. Also since vegetables contain some fiber my overall net carbs from eating veggies should be lower.

I'd appreciate any feedback on this diet. I'm open to suggestions.

I'm having some second thoughts on the low carb diet. I still want to eat clean but after some reading I think I would rather incorporate just enough carbs to fuel muscle growth. I'm lifting about 4 times per week and I want to get the most out of my sessions.

Dude, just eat protein ,complex carbs, and veggies. Why eat all those veggies all day and night? I do not understand your reasioning here.Protein at every meal, carbs early in the day and post workout, tapering off as the day goes on.Carb Cycling should be a must also. That`s a lot of weight to lose by May with your plan.Just my thoughts not flaming you or anything ,I just think your approach is way off base.Good luck!
