"A Holes...everybody has one."
One of the hardest thing I've had to grapple with when researching something in particular with regards to nutrition and or work out techniques, are the enormous variety of opinions and suggestions. I never know who or what to believe. One theme that remains constant is the idea of doing what works best for you. That I can live with. Of particular interest to me lately is how and what to do to prepare myself prior to a workout from a nutritional standpoint. I've read countless testimonies suggesting to eat such and such about one before a workout. And then today I read something that rather fly's in the face of that..which honestly makes more sense to me. In short this person writing the article said it's nearly impossible for the body to digest and therefore absorb the nutrients you eat one hour before a workout. At least to a degree where by you'd get the most benefits from it. It then went on to suggest
"to eat a good amount of carbohydrates in the morning hours up until just about noon, along with some good quality protein, dispersed throughout the day in four or five mini-meals. This is a great foundation for putting in place the building blocks that you’ll need to carry you through a workout."
Now that makes sense to me, and frankly sounds more of a reliable piece of information. Any thoughts on that?

well I feel that the person has a strong opinon yes. there are tons out there and sometimes it does become very overwhelming on who's word to take.
for me 4-5 meals is not enough. I have 6 everyday.
and eating an hour prior to workouts works for me, that way food has already begun to be digested and I have a steady flow of amino acids and carbs throughout my workout. I feel that taking any longer before a workout to eat and then training would risk putting your body into a catabolic state and a lack of energy flow. I wouldnt suggest that someone have something to eat right before a workout(15mins) as your body would be using energy to digest the foods rather then having adequate oxygen in the blood for optimal energy output during training.
again, this is just my opinon on the matter. Hope it didnt confuse you even more!

It makes good sense unless you train early in the AM,then just have a whey protein drink an hour or so before training.Don`t forget that people have glycogen stored in their liver`s to use as energy.Never eat too soon before training.

I personally eat an hour and half to two hours before, then have BCAAs right before a workout (about 8-10g)
Peace.
