my current preworkout shake is as follows (45-30 mins before training);
1 scoop zero isopure whey (100 cals, 0g fat, 25g pro, 0g carbs)
1 cup fat-free milk (90 cals, 0g fat, 9g pro, 13g carbs)
1 cup strawberries (43 calories, 1g fat, 1g pro, 10g carbs)
1 cup orange juice (110 cals, 0g fat, 2g pro, 26g carbs)

i was wondering if maybe i should replace the 1 cup of orange juice with 1/4 of maltodextrin (which has 110 cals, 27g carbs)... thus replacing the 22g sugar the orange juice... and maybe malto is better anyway... ideas? i take malto after training too...

I never have had Malto, but it sounds like a logical alternative to O.J.
That is a lot of work for a pre-workout shake though, isn't it?
What are you looking for goal wise. Size, strength etc.?

in your pre-workout shake as it is, the carbs come mainly from fructose, not something your muscles can use for fuel. i think, maltodextrin would be much better, replacing the fruit/fruitjuice.

Don't you think that eating simple sugars pre-work out will boost short term energy?
