I've been doing some HIIT cardio on the treadmill and wanted to hear your thoughts on my program. I'm mostly curious to see how many calories everyone else burns in the HIIT workouts.
My stats: 5'9", 176lbs, 15%bf - trying to cut down to under 10%.
I've been lifting Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with a pretty standard split (actually following Gopro's program)
I've been doing 12 min HIIT cardio on the days I workout which looks like the following (all on treadmill):
2 min - 4mph (intensity of 5 I figure)
1 min - 5mph (level 6 intensity)
1 min - 6mph (level 7)
1 min - 7mph (level 8)
1 min - 4mph
1 min - 5mph
1 min - 6mph
1 min - 7mph
1 min - 8mph (9 intensity)
Total cals - 115
On the other 3 days a week when I'm not lifiting, I do the same HIIT program, but for 20 minutes instead. It burns 200 cals.
Therefore, I burn a total of 1060 cals a week. How does this all look?

dont get too obsessed with how many calories you are burning during cardio. its hard to judge from each person as we all have different body types, metabolism's and our personal output intensity's vary.
Just make sure that your putting your all into the cardio and following your diet and let things work from there.

Exactly, thats one thing those blasted machines dont take into account is your bodyweight. It takes more energy to move a 300 pound human than it does one weighing 130 pounds.

What about a machine that where you've got to input your weight, height, and age beforehand. Would those be more accurate?

I understand what you all are saying about the cardio machines not being very accurate, but I guess I was just curious as to if I was even in the ballpark with my cardio.
First, I wanted to make sure I am doing HIIT correctly, based on the speeds, etc. that I mentioned.
Second, I wanted to know if other people are pushing themselves far less of far more to see results. For example, if you told me that you burn 600 cals per session, I'd might start thinking that I'm really not pushing things enough.

does 10min on a stationary bike 2x per week count?
thats all i can handle with that cardio b.s..
even 10minutes seems like an eternity. i don't know how all the girls at my school do those elypticals/treadmills for 30-60min at a time. I'd kill myself.

I burn about 900-1000 calories an hour.
But then again, I'm training for a half marathon

I am proof, When I do HIIT for 25 minutes the damn machine says I burned 1300 calories or something and I am 6 foot 2 and 545 lbs!
I know that cant be Right!

When I do HIIT cardio, I don't have a machine to judge how fast I go. However, I practically sprint for about 1 minute, then I log at an estimated 5-6MPH for another minute. However, by the time I'm nearing completion, I am usually pretty low on energy. My speeds go down significantly for both the regular jogging and intense jogging portions of the training. Also, I go up and down hills. My speeds vary accordingly. So, what is the point of my rambling? I guess it's to say there isn't any exact speed you need to be going to see results. What you are doing is probably fine. If you are seeing results and feeling better, then you are probably doing fine.
