Stop training with a cold?

I've picked up a slight head cold and I'm wondering if I should take it easy for awhile and wait till it goes away to hit the gym again. But I've heard you can get rid of a cold fast if you "sweat it out" so to speak. Opinions of hitting the gym when sick?

I get colds often enough that I barely consider it getting sick. I don't stop when I have a cold, but some people get more bogged down by a cold than me.

If I have a cold I can get away with training lightly, not pushing it to hard. If I am sick though (fever, etc) I never train.

same here, but i cant hold it a lot when im not training, i think about all the time lost in bed...

unfortunately i stop training when im sick... i hate it though, i always lose progress from lack of appetite

I stop completely. I consider it VERY rude to spread my cold germs around in the gym, where lots of people may catch them.

Also, I feel I recover faster, and I train harder when I'm ready to return.

I train with a cold almost always. If it's just a cold it wont distract you in any way really. As far as spreading the germs...most people in the gym will never catch it because their immune system could be better than yours. After all it's just a cold.

when you train hard, its suppresses ur immune system
which is definetly NOT good, if you have to train when ur sick go very light. and if its bad then dont train at all, especially if ur not eating because of it

if you cant eat then working out will hurt you pretty badly

I usually train with a cold, but not a fever. It almost always makes me feel better to do some light training.

IMO .. it is better to stop training while you are sick. Your body is trying to recover, if you go too heavy you can stay sick for more time.

sick=stop training
cold=just suck it up and do it

ummm i was under the impression that if you had a cold then you are sick....but w/e

runny/stuffy nose, small cough or sore throat and i'd say you're ok...

fever, diarrhea, chills, bad cough or head ache and i'd say take a breather...

I say you oughta lift if you can in most cases, esp since a cold can last over a month. Anyway I'd loose more by stopping, I'm sure of it.
PS - Don't squat if you have diarrhea
