Posted by: atherjen

slow digesting protein and healthy fats
cottage cheese, egg whites, casein/egg blend protein powder or you know, just about any protein.
and some healthy fats, natural peanut butter, flax oil, fish oil caps, olive oil, nuts/seeds(in moderation.)

Yeah... i'd like it too. Very tasty.

Not the best thing to have right before bed, though. You're giving yourself about 8 grams of protein which has to last ~8 hours.

First of all you should not even eat bread, white or wheat, on a cut.

Second, you should not eat carbs before bed whether on a bulk or a cut.

Third, hopefully you're at least talking about natural pb, and that is okay for the fat, but you need a quality protein like whey, casien or egg.

I have a whey protein shake (whey & water) with natural pb right before bed.

Sometimes I eat a can of tuna before I go to bed. I'm not really sure if this is good or bad, but it is pretty clean protein. I need to buy some damned whey...

tuna is fine. its slow digesting. add some EFA's to it. flax or olive oil mixed with tuna is yummy!

ive read not to take whey b4 you go to sleep because of its level of absorbtion
that it will just turn to fat...

Posted by: myCATpowerlifts

i know you prolly doubt this, so im going to go find the article i read it in

Posted by: myCATpowerlifts

aight read up on it in the article
i was right and wrong
it depends on the brand, some are designed for slow absorbtion
good for night time
others are quick absorb good for post-workout

I dont see how whey would turn to fat if taken before bed... it hits the blood stream pretty quickly and no doubt your body can use a good deal of it.

The natural PB that Prince is talking about adding to it will slow its absorption and give you some good fats too

The problem you worry about with protein before bed it not that it will turn to fat... but that it will last you long enough and minimize the amount of time that you are in a catabolic state overnight.

At least thats what I always thought

u got it! no straight whey before bed. a blend of casein/egg is good. add some healthy fats too!

This is true. that is why I like cottage cheese, full fat (I even have an apple with it for added fiber). The casien protein digests slowly and will clot in your stomach and help to keep you in a positive nitrogen balance through out the night.
