has anyone not trained shoulders in a workout routine?
mine looks like this
mon - ooff
tues - chest and biceps
wed - off
thurs - back and triceps
fri - off
sat - (shoulders) and legs
sun - off

my chest is usually sore until friday
my back until monday
my triceps until monday

my shoulders seem to hurt a bit after back day, and i know the delts get hit hard during chest and back... but im just wondering if anyone has ever not trained shoulders with any kind of results.. im taking this week off shoulders, and in 2 weeks off workout all together (acapulco for spring break)

I think it's important to at least isolate the medial head of the delts, the anterior and posterior heads get a lot of indirect work from chest and back training.

You need to do some kind of over head press movement

Shoulders are important, guys who dont work them look almost as silly as guys who don't do legs Plus they really help w/ your V shape... I think..

Craig HATES doing my shoulder routines! They are brutal. hehe

ok ill keep training them, but i guess ill have to find another day to do them

I was stirring some Palenta today, and my shoulders are feeling pretty tender

This is why 3 day splits have always been rough to me. Never could find all the time to fit in every muscle group. My only suggestion would be to hitch your shoulders a few extra times on deadlift on back days.

there are other ways to hit the delts, i.e. side laterals and upright rows.

But isn't the overhead press the king of shoulder exercises,The one that builds the most mass.

If I dont hit the delts, they shrink, period. I dont have anything on my body that I can avoid working out, that includes forearms, otherwise they shrink. I dont use straps or any assitance either.

I generaly do 3 sets of dumbell laterals, 3 sets of machine presses, and 3 sets of pec deck rear laterals. At the end of traps/neck I then do one set of 10-15 pound rotator work, being carefull not to go crazy with range of motion. I have done up to 30s but its entirely too heavy.

i usually do 2 sets of either dumbell of barbell press, side laterals .. usually a total of 7 or 8 sets...

i guess my shoulders just need a break - i took last week off from shoulders.. then the next week and a half ill go hard again then im going to mexico for spring and a week off for spring break

omg I just realized I wont have access to a gym during spring break!!!

I guess I will have to take a week off of weights and make sure to get plenty of cardio by dancing at the clubs

And no David, I do not want to train on my trip

My only point was there are other effective exercises for shoulders.
