I have started the nhe diet last week and my maintence cals have changed. I am eating at 15 x bw and still losing weight but when I was on a high protien mod carb diet I gain at like 12-13xbw
Why is this doesnt my body only burn the same amount of cals regardless of diet?

Usually maintenance_cals change if you change your weight. I never experienced nothing with just changing the diet.
Are you sure that you are taking the exact number of calories per day ? Even if you change only 200 cals, it would make a huge difference.

The more muscle you build the higher your maintenace cals will be.

Also, you may be dropping more water, hence making the scale go down faster, if doing a lower carb apporach...

I figured that a lot of it is water weight but
I have lost almost a 1/2 " in my waist too.
This is a low carb diet and I know that it isnt optimal for muscle building but when I eat a higher carb diet I am always tired and crave carbs bad. so this diet is low carb with 2 weekly carb ups.
If I have high insulin resistance would that lead to more weight gain from a lower
cal diet?
