Anyone see that chicken shit hit by Todd Bertuzzi? Steve Moore suffered a fractured neck, concussion, and deep facial cuts. He is out for the season.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1754963

Here is a video clip of the hit.

I hope Bertuzzi is executed.

Yeah Bertuzzi just put a bad reputation on his sport, yet again. Everyone thinks hockey sucks because they always see these cheap shot hits by guys like Dale Hunter, Tie Domi and Marty Mcsorely. Bertuzzi outweighed this guy by 40 pounds yet he has to jump him from behind, he should be ashamed of himself and I hope Peter Worrell beats his ass next time they play.

Agree this is a disgusting play by Bertuzzi, especially considering he is one of the best all-around players in the league. Realizing there is alot of tension between these two teams since Steve Moore put out Vancouvers Markus Nasland on a so called questionable hit. But that in no reason gives Bertuzzi the reason to follow through with actions like that. At least be a man about it and approach the guy face on.

The NHL should make an example of Bertuzzi with this moronic play.

Bertuzzi should be kicked out of the NHL.....That injury could be the end of Steve Moore's career.

So Bertuzzi meets with Colin Campbell this morning in Toronto to determine his suspension. What do you guys think it should be?

Posted by: I Are Baboon

One year, just like McSorely got.

As much as I like Bertuzzi as a hockey player, I agree with you. Actually, I think it should be taken a step further. Match the length of time that Steve Moore is out + 10 games. If Steve Moore can't return because of his injuries, well then C'est la vie.

As long as Moore is out, Berrtuzi is out.

Please dont judge a whole sport by isolated occurances!

No Judging here!

Bertuzzi was an idiot plain and simple. The NHL if it wants to isolate incidents like this needs to stand up and set a precidence.

By making players think twice about future incidents it will probably limit the amount of times the media can blow incidents way out of proportion, and give Hockey such a poor reputation especially in the States where very few understand.

Hockey is a cool game, and when fights break out its even cooler...but when someone comes from behind and cheap shots you, thats wrong....Bertuzzi should know better.

Like I said before he needs to be thrown out of the NHL.

The ONLY time hockey gets this much press in the U.S. is when something bad like this happens. I love hockey and it's a shame the only news people hear about it is bad news.

I know its unfortunate, ESPN jumps all over BS like this.

Bertuzzi's meeting with the league has been delayed

That's what I think, I also think that he should pay Moore his salary until he can play again.

I don't mind if people get their ass kicked and have a broken nose, but damn, what a piece of shit. To think I used to like watching him too

He is currently suspended without pay pending his hearing. I guess we'll have to wait to see what the final verdict is.

The media coverage for something like this is unfortunate, not only is ESPN covering but so are the major networks. The end result of this leads to a public opinion that hockey is too violent. Fighting is definetly part of the game and the NHL would lose a marketable element without it but they may feel a lot of pressure to crack down on the violence especially with the extent of Moore's injuries and the flurry of media coverage

Just came down. 12 games plus the playoffs. IMO, not nearly enough. Part of the problem is the NHL head office, the officiating and the way they treat violent acts.

I have to agree. The media coverage is nuts. There where more bench clearing brawls, every year, for the last five years, in baseball than in hockey. 3 NFL players were up for murder charges last year. The Portland JailBlazers are another fine example and the 'roid and drug useage in baseball...
Yet the media focusous in on this one act in hockey. Go figure.

Plus his cased will be reviewed at the beginning of next season to determine if any further actions are needed.

I agree that the NHL head office is a joke and that Gary Bettman should get his ass back to Basketball, cause he knows shitall about what he is doing here.

The league should IMO being going after the Canucks as well, for coming outright and stating that there was a bounty on Moores head and then following through with it.

Yet another black eye for Hockey Fuck Gary Bettman give your damn head a shake you fuck ass.

Bettman will allow Betruzzi back for training camp because Bettman HAS NO SPINE. And NO penalty for Marc Crawford!? Are you shitting me???

So I think someone needs to play devil's advocate on this, first off I want to say that I think it was a bad move on Bertuzzi's part especially considering the caliber player he is, but he made is bed.

First off Moore has to expect that he will become a marked man for giving Marcus Nasland a concussion. A questionable hit on one of the leagues top players. Bertuzzi was following Moore, pulling on his Jersey trying to get him to fight. Since he did not step up Bertuzzi got frustrated and punched him.

Now I have seen guys get hit like that on the ice before, Bertuzzi still had his glove on. Buy some chance Bertuzzi knocked him out with one punch. When Moore fell to the ice he cracked a couple of vertebrae in his neck, which is very sad and tragic. If Bertuzzi hadn’t knocked him out with one punch he would have only sat in the box for 2 minutes.

Well that I just my 2 cents.

I really don't think Moore's hit should be at all in question. As Moore went to hit Nasland, Nasland lost his balance or something and ended up coming into the hit lower, unfotunately that meant his head made contact with Moore's shoulder. By no means a dirty hit, just a part of hockey.

On the other hand, if Bertuzzi really wanted to fight man-o eh man-o then approach him face on, don't grab him from behind and clock him in the temple with everything you got. Bertuzzi is a great hockey player, and I understand things happen in the heat of the moment, but this is rediculous and the way it was handled by the NHL is even more rediculous.
