It's ABOUT TIME the Rangers did this. Looks like they are dumping all the old, high salaried players and trying to start from scratch with a youth movement. Wise move, I say.

Also, chances are Mark Messier will not return for 2005. Eric Lindros needs shoulder surgery and all signs point to the Rangers NOT picking up his $10 million option for 2005. All totaled, the Rangers free up over $40 million annually. DAAAAAAMN that's a lot of salary gone.

They should Dump Glen Sather as well, he got praised as the greatest GM ever when he was handed the Oiler back in the 80's.
Now that he has the deep pockets, he looks like a joke.
It is too bad, NY making the playoffs is crucial for the NHL continuing to grow.
