You can have a PT do it at your gym or check out local colleges.

Type in the search engine : "my bf"

Seriously, go to the gym or buy calipers. Donīt go for that scale with the eletonic pulse. It is no good.

Posted by: Spitfire

Hey, there is a Whole Food Market right down the street, they do them on weekend, or just go to a gym. They'll have a caliper there.

Posted by: Spitfire

The hand caliper is only good within the 1.3 range (not very accurate).

Posted by: liljojo4711

ok

hmmm whole foods market.....

Or if you're willing to pay for it, have a Dexa Scan done. It is 100% accurate. Will have to be ordered by your family physician though. Also used to measure bone calcium. I know it may seem a little extreme but it truly is accurate.

Some colleges also offer underwater testing.

Posted by: Nuclear Blast

That would be the second most accurate way of testing for BF%

Posted by: aggies1ut

Yes, I know that, but cheaper.

Posted by: iron jock

some grocery stores have those electrical test all you need is your weight and hight, that is where I got my done today.

Posted by: aggies1ut

Those are soooo inaccurate.

Posted by: liljojo4711

how much does the Dexa Scan cost? is the one at the college free? could i call them and get info. about it?

Posted by: Spitfire

Seems like the most efficient way is pinch test, not bad acc. and you can get it done at like middle school, gym, doctors.

Posted by: Vieope

Underwater testing is the thing. The problem is that they never heard about it here.

Posted by: Spitfire

Ive heard of it butr there is no way im jumping into a tank at some collage with some weird people stareing at me, I HATE it when people stare at me

Posted by: liljojo4711

so i have to go somewhere to get it done, there isnt a formula or anything on the internet that is accurate?

Posted by: Leslie

There are formulas sure, but you need the measurements to use the formula. They have to be taken with an instrument called a caliper.

Posted by: liljojo4711

gotcha. im just gonna go up to the university and get it checked out... thanks for the help peeps

Posted by: Nuclear Blast

I could find out the price of a Dexa scan for you. The only problem is that it has to be ordered by a doctor unless you know someone in a radiology department that can do it for you or get it done for you say(after hours) for free. It only takes about 15-20 minutes. I had one done by a friend and it even shows the delineation(acutal picture) of the muscle to fat. Pretty cool to see. So you can actually see how much muscle and fat you have on your entire body. The body fat percentage is also 100% accurate. I know this may be a little extreme, but if you want dead on accuracy, this is the way to go.

really? i had one done and it said that i was 5.6% and some how i dont think that is 100% accurate

calipers have always been my preferred way of doing things...although water/dunks are more accurate for bodybuilding it doesnt really matter how much fat you have internally so the accuracy of the dunk doesnt really benefit you in anyway....just get the calipers done by a well known PT and go to the same person everytime.

Posted by: Nuclear Blast

And why don't you think that's accurate? Did your calipers say otherwise?

Posted by: J'Bo

5.6% there is no way in HELL a women with my amount of fat could be 5% my true bf% right now (says the tank and calipers) is 15%

Posted by: myCATpowerlifts

^but ur perfect so it doesnt matter

Posted by: J'Bo

your funny...thanks

Posted by: Paynne

Calipers are pretty cheap. I got mine for $20something. After a while you get somewhat consistant. I just take it 3-4 times and use the average. Even if it's off all I really care about is if it's going up or down.

Posted by: Nuclear Blast

Gee, yeah, thats a big diffrence. Something definitely doesn't sound right there.

Posted by: SJ69

Do the calipers ordered through this site come with instructions?
Does the technique (calipers) somehow compensate for people who have alot of fat around the belly, but are otherwise lean?

Posted by: myCATpowerlifts

^ ihave that prob too...
