Originally posted by Premo55 Actually literature suggests that isolate may not be the best protein after all, because the speed of absorption and uptake is far too fast...in fact certain literature that I've read recently suggests that casein might indeed be the best protein, and that a mix of whey concentrate and casein is the bst post workout protein fix... Originally posted by I Are Baboon TRUE, real food is better than bars, and TRUE, protein shakes are better than bars. However, bars have their place. When I am mountain biking and 15 miles out in the woods, I'm not about to bust a chicken breast, a can of tuna, or a protein shake from my backpack. Bars come in real handy sometimes. You have to stay nourished while riding, and bars about the only option you have. My Balance Bar of choice is peanut butter.

If I was out on my bike all day, then my body would NEED something like a Balance bar.
