Pre-workout meal?

Here is my dilemma. I work out in the morning before work, because I like having my evenings to relax.

So I get up, and usually head straight to the gym. Now I should probably eat something before I go, but not sure what would be a good thing to eat?? Keep in mind this is going to be about 10 minutes top before my workout, and it would be nice if I didn't have to prepare it at all.

Or would it be better to just save myself for my post workout meal??

give it a try.

I can't eat anyhing before or after my workouts or I puke. My AM cardio is done on a empty stomach, and a shake after. I don't eat 2hrs before my PM weights, but again have a shake right after.

your mileage can and will vary. find out what your body likes.

I hate working out if my stomach feels ANY full or bloated whatsoever, so i usually don't eat within a few hours of my w.o.

u can maybe bang down a protein shake w/water (not milk cuz it bloats)

It's important to eat something before you workout. I'm talking especially when you wake up. Throughout the night your body had spent all the reserves of proteins and carbs and it needs food. When you wake up (Spency234) it would be very wise of you to eat something, at least oatmeal (you need carbs for energy) and a protein shake before you go to the gym or else you will be losing muscle instead of gaining it.

I usually just have protein.

Protein is fine Jill. If its a carb day, you must have carb PWO!

Spency - Definately eat before and after your workout.

Would a protein shake be fine??? I think thats probably the only thing I could get down at that time of day.

Yes, a protein shake would be fine, just an some EFA's. When you are done your workout be sure to eat some protein and carbs ASAP.

I don't think EFAs are good pre-workout. If you're banging out weights, I highly recommend dextrose and protein, preferably in the form of BCAAs. You need the glucose and the aminos to fuel your workout. After your workout have a protein shake with oats.

Peace.
